The incident occurred last Wednesday afternoon near Marienbruecke, a bridge spanning a gorge near the castle, which offers views of the famous Neuschwanstein Castle.

The 30-year-old man encountered two female tourists, aged 21 and 22, on the road and lured them onto a trail leading to an observation point, according to police in a statement.
"The younger girl was attacked by the suspect. The other girl tried to rush to help, but the suspect choked her and then pushed her down the ravine," said Holger Stabik, a police spokesman.
The suspect then attempted to sexually assault the 21-year-old girl before pushing her down a ravine. Both girls fell nearly 50 meters.
A mountain rescue team reached both women. Police said the 22-year-old woman was "still responsive" and was taken to hospital. The other woman was seriously injured and did not survive.
The suspect left the scene but was quickly apprehended nearby. Police said the suspect is an American and also a tourist .
Authorities have not provided any further details about the identity of the suspect or the victims.
The suspect is currently being held in custody pending investigation into charges of suspected murder, attempted murder, and sexual offenses.
Police said they are focusing on trying to accurately reconstruct what happened and are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Neuschwanstein, located in southern Bavaria near the Austrian border, is one of Germany's most popular tourist attractions.
This is the most famous castle, built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria in the 19th century. Construction began in 1869 but was never completed. King Ludwig died in 1886.
