Responding to a VOV.VN reporter, Mr. Bui Tuan Manh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cat Hai District (Hai Phong City), said that Cat Ba is currently welcoming tourists as usual, and the island's infrastructure, including transportation, environmental sanitation, electricity, water, and telecommunications, has been restored. However, in addition to hotels that are already welcoming guests, some accommodation facilities still need more time for repairs and restoration; therefore, tourists should carefully check the information before their trip.

In Lan Ha Bay, most tourist boats and overnight cruise ships have resumed operations, such as Heritage Cruises Binh Chuan Cat Ba Archipelago, Orchid Cruises, Mon Chéri, La Casta, Scarlet Pearl, etc.

Arriving at Cat Ba Island on September 17th by private car, tourist To Uyen ( from Hanoi ) said the weather on the island was quite nice, with gentle sunshine: "About 50% of shops and restaurants have reopened, with more open in the central area. I noticed that most of the tourists on the island at this time are international, with fewer Vietnamese visitors. Some places still look desolate, with fallen trees, but overall I feel Cat Ba is now peaceful and pleasant. The Dong Bai ferry is operating and free, so transportation is seamless and there are no obstacles."

According to Mr. Pham Truong, representative of MGallery Hôtel Perle d'Orient Cat Ba, the hotel has resumed normal operations and room occupancy remains stable despite being in the low season. Overall, Cat Ba's tourism industry has not fully recovered, but businesses are gradually restoring operations. The damage to hotels mainly affects the facade and exterior landscape, while the internal infrastructure and equipment remain intact. Additionally, Typhoon No. 3 caused significant damage to aquaculture farms, impacting the supply of seafood to restaurants.

A representative from Tran Nguyen Travel, a tourism company on Cat Ba Island, said that in the past few days, tourists have started returning to Cat Ba after the storm: "Since last weekend, we have been serving about 15-20 guests each day, mainly small groups of foreign tourists. Current activities for guests include visiting Lan Ha Bay, swimming, kayaking, visiting the Bright and Dark Caves, and trekking on some routes in Cat Ba National Park such as Ao Ech and Ngu Lam... We haven't taken guests to Viet Hai Village yet."

Overall on Cat Ba Island, small-scale food establishments have reopened, and some hotels in the island's center have also started welcoming guests. Other tourism and service establishments are still recovering from the aftermath and operating at a reduced capacity. To date, all transportation routes in Cat Hai district have been cleaned up and are functioning normally. The People's Committee of Cat Hai district is reviewing and compiling a list of establishments and services ready to welcome guests in order to inform tourists and businesses as soon as possible.

Typhoon No. 3 (Typhoon Yagi) caused severe damage to Cat Hai district in general and the Cat Ba tourism industry in particular. According to incomplete statistics (as of September 14th), the damage in Cat Hai district exceeded 678 billion VND, affecting housing, educational facilities, healthcare, cultural centers, agriculture, tourism, transportation, irrigation, and communication infrastructure. Many aquaculture rafts were severely damaged. Numerous fishing boats and tourist boats sank, including 3 overnight cruise ships, 5 tender boats, and 1 day cruise ship.
