The conference took place over two days, October 22nd and 23rd, in Hanoi, with discussions focusing on the following components: the Higher Education Capacity Building Program (CBHE), International Credit Transfer Mechanism (ICM), and the Jean Monnet Component (JMA). Representatives from higher education institutions shared practical experiences, illustrating the achievements and opportunities offered by Erasmus+. The event also provided an opportunity for delegates to explore potential collaborations, thereby contributing to the internationalization and modernization of higher education in Vietnam. In addition, discussions focused on Project 89 – Vietnam's high-quality human resource development program. The event also included an exchange session between the EU alumni network and European businesses in Vietnam, aiming to address business needs for human resources and thereby expand training to better suit practical requirements. European Commission Vice President Margaritis Schinas shared: "Erasmus+ has long been a symbol of excellence in education and cultural exchange in Europe. However, the program's international scope has extended far beyond the EU, fostering global partnerships and enhancing mutual understanding. Expanding the scope of Erasmus+ not only opens up more educational opportunities but also strengthens cooperative relationships with countries worldwide, including Vietnam.” Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Van Phuc stated: "It can be said that, to date, the partnership between Europe and Vietnam has developed strongly, with cooperation in higher education being a key focus. Particularly since 2015, when the Erasmus+ program officially began its first phase in Vietnam, the expansion of connections and scientific research cooperation between European and Vietnamese universities has become increasingly strong and achieved many successes.”

Between 2015 and 2024, the Erasmus Program achieved remarkable results in Vietnam, contributing to the internationalization and modernization of Vietnamese higher education institutions and improving the quality of higher education. Through the program, 3,400 students, lecturers, and higher education administrators participated in long-term and short-term courses in Europe. In 2024, 54 Vietnamese candidates received Erasmus scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies. The Erasmus Program also fostered cooperation between European and Vietnamese higher education institutions in scientific research, the development of joint training programs, and joint research projects to meet contemporary needs. With 96 projects in this period, Vietnam currently has the highest approval rate. Particularly during the 2021-2027 period, with a focus on key areas such as green transformation, digital transformation, climate change, improving the quality of human resources, and boosting employment rates... meeting the urgent needs of the labor market, the need to reduce emissions for a green and clean environment, and responding to climate change... this forms the basis for the parties to look towards the next 50 years, promoting more effective cooperation in training and scientific research.
