EVNHANOI: Commencement of 2 key projects in the West of Hanoi

On the morning of August 18, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2, Hanoi Electricity Corporation (EVNHANOI) started construction of the 220/110KV Hoa Lac Transformer Station and the 110/22KV overhead part; the 110kV Phu Cat Transformer Station and its branch.

Mr. Pham Van Thang, Director of Hanoi Power Grid Project Management Board, said that the 220/110KV Hoa Lac Transformer Station and the 110/22KV above-ground part have an area of 3.7 hectares, located in Ha Bang commune, Hanoi city.

The project has a scale of 2 transformers 250MVA-220/110kV and 1 transformer 63MVA-110/22kV (with ground reserve for 1 transformer 250MVA-220/110kV and 1 transformer 63MVA-110/22kV). The transformer station uses AIS technology.

Estimated construction time is 24 months, completed, energized and put into use in August 2027.

The 220kV Hoa Lac transformer station is supplied from the 500kV Tay Ha Noi transformer station through a 220kV line with a length of about 13.5km. Of which, the 10km overhead line passes through the communes of Hung Dao, Quoc Oai, Kieu Phu, Ha Bang, and the 3.5km underground cable runs mainly on the existing road of Hoa Lac High-Tech Park.

The total investment of the power line project is 1,056 billion VND. The project will be energized synchronously with the Hoa Lac 220kV Transformer Station project.

Currently, Ha Bang commune and Hoa Lac High-Tech Park are being supplied with electricity from two 110kV transformer stations, E1.54 CNC Hoa Lac (capacity 3×63 MVA) and E1.73 CNC 2 (capacity 2×63 MVA), with a total installed capacity of 315MVA. The current capacity utilization is only about 35%, equivalent to 104MVA.

However, with the development speed of the region, especially the demand of some large loads such as the National Data Center, Viettel Technical Center and many other high-tech projects, the load demand will increase rapidly in the coming time.

When the 220/110kV Hoa Lac transformer station and the 110/22kV connection are put into operation, EVNHANOI will add 500MVA of power source capacity, increasing the total power supply capacity for the High-Tech Park to about 815 MVA, nearly 3 times the current capacity, ensuring enough capacity to provide stable and safe power until the period 2040 - 2050.

The Phu Cat 110kV Transformer Station and its branch has an area of 3,800m2 in Phu Cat commune, Hanoi city, with a construction scale including 2 40MVA-110/22kV transformers.

The transformer station uses AIS technology. The 110kV distribution system installed outdoors includes 5 bays, the 22kV distribution cabinet system installed indoors includes 10 22kV medium voltage outputs.

The project is expected to be completed, energized and put into use on April 30, 2026. The 110kV Phu Cat transformer station is supplied with power from the 110kV Xuan Mai - Son Tay line, the length of the newly built line is about 175m.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, General Director of EVNHANOI pledged to concentrate all resources, human resources, equipment, organize scientific and safe construction, ensure progress and quality of the project at the highest level; at the same time, closely coordinate with departments, branches and localities in site clearance, promptly handle arising problems, so that the project is completed on schedule, put into operation soon, contributing to the socio -economic development of the region.
