Today, August 16th, VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan departed for Australia to attend the 2023 Women's World Cup final. The final match of the tournament will be a clash between Spain and England on August 20th. Prior to that, the two teams defeated Sweden and Australia respectively in the semi-finals.
During this trip, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan will attend the FIFA Women's Football Conference on August 18th and 19th. In addition, he will meet and work with the Presidents of the German and Belgian Football Federations.
VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan was delighted to meet FIFA President Gianni Infantina at the match between the Vietnamese national team and the United States.
During the group stage, Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan attended the opening match of the Vietnamese women's national team against the US national team. Also present at that match were FIFA President Gianni Infantino and US Soccer Federation President Cindy Parlow Cone, who met with Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan.
Facing a top-ranked team, the Vietnamese team played tenaciously and only lost 0-3. The US team dominated for the entire 90 minutes, but goalkeeper Kim Thanh's hands prevented many good scoring opportunities for the 2019 World Cup champions.
Following the match, FIFA and AFC praised the outstanding performance of the Vietnamese national team's goalkeeper. Sofascore gave Kim Thanh the highest score among the Vietnamese team, second only to four American players.
