With nearly 150 documents and artifacts, the exhibition introduced to the public the significance, scale, and value of the Dien Bien Phu victory, highlighting that the crucial element contributing to this great victory was the strength of the great national unity of the Vietnamese people under the brilliant and wise leadership of the Party, demonstrating the maturity of the Vietnam People's Army. This immortal spirit is a driving force that empowers the entire Party, the entire people, and the entire army on the path of reform, integration, and national development.

The exhibition consists of two parts: Part I - Dien Bien Phu - A Historical Rendezvous, introduces the French colonialists' plot in the Nava plan; the Party's policy on launching the Dien Bien Phu Campaign; and the geographical location of Dien Bien Phu.

Nearly 150 documents and artifacts are on display, highlighting the significance and value of the victory in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu (Figure 1).

Guests cut the ribbon to inaugurate the thematic exhibition: "Dien Bien Phu - An Undying Spirit".

In this section, the public will learn more about the strategic location of Dien Bien Phu. Dien Bien Phu is a large basin valley in the western mountainous region of Northwest Vietnam, near the Vietnam-Laos border, situated at the crossroads of many important major and minor roads.

For the French colonialists, Dien Bien Phu was an extremely important strategic location, a strategically mobile position between North Vietnam, Upper Laos, and Southwestern China. It could become a very powerful army and air base in their plans for invasion of Southeast Asia.

On November 20, 1953, the French colonialists parachuted troops into Dien Bien Phu and built the strongest fortified complex in Indochina there. On December 6, 1953, President Ho Chi Minh and the Politburo met and decided to launch the Dien Bien Phu campaign with the determination to completely destroy this fortified complex.

Part 2: Decisive Battle, Decisive Victory, introduces a collection of documents, artifacts, and images that demonstrate the spirit of "All for the front lines, all for victory" of the Vietnamese army and people in the Dien Bien Phu campaign.

Nearly 150 documents and artifacts are on display, highlighting the significance and value of the victory in the Battle of Dien Bien Phu (Figure 2).

The exhibition space displays 150 documents and artifacts titled "Dien Bien Phu - An Immortal Spirit".

In addition, this exhibition also showcases examples of the heroic contributions, sacrifices, and tenacious fighting spirit of the heroes and soldiers on the Dien Bien Phu front, embodying the motto "Determined to fight, determined to win."

The public also saw images of the victorious Dien Bien Phu Campaign, the troops taking over the capital. The Geneva Accords on ending the war and restoring peace in Indochina were signed, successfully concluding the Vietnamese people's resistance war against French colonial aggression.

The exhibition will be open from April 25th to June 2024.

On this occasion, the National Museum of History, in collaboration with the Tourism Information Center (Vietnam National Tourism Administration), held a ceremony to launch the "Online - Interconnected - Multimodal" electronic ticketing system. This is a new solution that innovates the management of the visitor ticketing system, from ticket sales and control to statistical reporting, in a scientific and convenient way, helping the public access museums more easily and conveniently.
