The colors of the great festival - the blue sea
In the jubilant atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2, from the cool mountain town of Pleiku to the bustling coastal town of Quy Nhon, Gia Lai is adorned with a unique "forest - sea" tourism picture.

The 2025 Festival of the Essence of the Great Forest - Blue Sea Convergence, with the theme "Aspiration for the Blue Sea - the Great Forest to Shine" spreads through a series of activities to be held, including: Food Festival "Delicious Dishes from the Basalt Land and the Sea", Coffee and Gong Festival, Street Festival "Colors of the Ocean", light show and drone performance "The Great Forest - Blue Sea Reaches to Shine", along with many traditional art and variety performances.
The most anticipated highlight is the brilliant fireworks display at Nguyen Tat Thanh Square (Quy Nhon Ward) on the evening of August 29, right after the opening ceremony of the Quintessence of the Great Forest - Convergence of the Blue Sea Festival and at Dai Doan Ket Square (Pleiku Ward) on the evening of September 2, right after the special art program celebrating the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The brilliant and sparkling fireworks displays on the nights of August 29 and September 2 will depict the nuances of Vietnam's second largest land - connecting the green forests and the ocean, working together to build a developed homeland, and looking towards a happier and more prosperous future in the new era, the era of the Vietnamese people's rise.

The land of the great mountains is also filled with the red flag with yellow star with many cultural and entertainment activities carefully prepared to serve the people and tourists. The highlight of the series of events is the art program " Gia Lai : Sea and Sky in Harmony - Shining Essence" taking place at Dai Doan Ket Square on the evening of September 2.
This is a special program to welcome Gia Lai province after the merger, depicting the image of the land of harmony - where the Central Highlands meets the sea and sky of Binh Dinh, where thousand-year-old cultural traditions converge and shine together.
In addition, the public can also enjoy the ceramic exhibition “Soul of the Earth” (August 29 to September 29) and the Bonsai exhibition “Greenness of the Great Forest” (August 29 to September 5) at the Provincial Museum. The exhibitions introduce the exquisite beauty of products made from soil and trees through the creative work of artisans.
Tourism businesses get into gear
In keeping with the festival, many hotels and homestays in the mountain town of Pleiku have decorated with red flags with yellow stars, creating an impressive check-in space.
Pleiku Hotel hung 2,500 small flags, gave away national flags to guests and offered a 10% discount. Mai Cong Huan, manager of Pleiku Hotel, said: “Up to this point, the hotel’s room occupancy rate has reached about 85-90%. We also created an additional Independence Day check-in point for guests.”

Homestays and farmstays such as Tien Son, Sora, Xom, etc. are almost fully booked, with some even running out of rooms. Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, owner of Paksong farmstay, said: “Guests are mainly from Hanoi, traveling with their families. In addition to accommodation, the farm also serves coffee and a children’s play area, so many local families choose to come here instead of going far away.”
The festive atmosphere is present at all destinations. The hundred-year-old pine tree road - a "golden coordinate" for tourists - is brightly decorated with national flags, turning into a "red flag road" stretching for kilometers. Coffee shops have created new drinks: "Independence Water" with two layers of yellow and red, when stirred, turns pink, symbolizing the blood of Lac Hong; "Happy Tea" evokes the joy of reunion.

At Ia Mo Nong Community Tourism Village (Ia Ly Commune), people have prepared many experiential activities: reenacting fishing, dressing up as mud ghosts, weaving, pounding rice, etc. Ms. H'Uyen Nie, Deputy of the Village Management Board, shared: "We have accepted photography tours for international visitors on September 3 and 4, and at the same time prepared traditional cuisine to serve visitors."
The atmosphere of Independence Day is also gradually heating up in Quy Nhon, with an increasing number of visitors. Hotels and tourist areas are urgently upgrading their facilities and offering many incentives.
The Hai Au hotel chain with 250 rooms has been booked about 70%. Mr. Le Hong Quang, Deputy Director of the hotel, said: “We are offering a 10-20% discount on services and organizing a fireworks viewing party to give guests a memorable experience.”

Ky Co tourist area - known as the "Maldives of Vietnam" - has also completed landscape renovation, upgrading the 57-room resort, restaurant area, and rest houses. Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy General Director, informed: "We offer a 10-15% discount package for travel agencies, add check-in miniature landscapes, and build a menu introducing Gia Lai specialties to attract tourists."
With a series of exciting events, Gia Lai is expected to become an attractive destination for domestic and foreign tourists during the September 2nd holiday this year. The province’s careful preparation, along with the efforts of the business community, will bring complete experiences, deepening the image of a generous and hospitable land during the festival days.
