Foreign exchange bureaus in the free market this morning were buying USD at a common rate of 25,870 VND/USD and selling at 25,950 VND/USD. This is the highest USD price ever recorded in the free market.
Compared to the previous session, the free market USD price today increased by 50 dong in both buying and selling rates.
Meanwhile, the USD price in the official market is trending downwards.
The State Bank of Vietnam announced the central exchange rate for June 25th at 24,253 VND, a decrease of 9 VND compared to the previous session.
Applying a 5% margin, commercial banks are allowed to trade today at a ceiling exchange rate of 25,465 VND/USD and a floor exchange rate of 23,040 VND/USD.
The buying and selling rates continue to be maintained by the State Bank of Vietnam's Exchange Department within the trading range of 23,400-25,450 VND/USD.
The buying price of USD at banks was adjusted up or down by a common margin of 2-10 dong compared to the previous session. However, all banks pushed the selling price of USD to the maximum limit.
According to a survey conducted at 11:15 AM on June 25th, Vietcombank listed the buying price of USD in cash at 25,215 VND/USD and the selling price at 25,465 VND/USD (buy - sell), a decrease of 10 VND in both buying and selling rates compared to yesterday morning (June 24th).
This morning, VietinBank is buying and selling USD at 25,235-25,465 VND/USD, unchanged on the buying side and down 10 VND on the selling side compared to yesterday morning.
At private joint-stock commercial banks, Techcombank bought cash USD at 25,234 VND/USD and sold it at 25,465 VND/USD, an increase of 5 VND in the buying rate but a decrease of 10 VND in the selling rate compared to the morning of June 24th.
Meanwhile, Sacombank listed the USD exchange rate at 25,267-25,465 VND/USD (buy - sell), an increase of 2 VND in the buying rate and a decrease of 10 VND in the selling rate compared to yesterday morning.
The buying price of USD at banks is currently about 600 VND lower, while the selling price is also 485 VND lower than in the free market.
On the global market, the US dollar fell again after rising consecutively over the past week. The dollar slipped from its highest level in eight weeks.
The US Dollar Index (which measures the fluctuations of the US dollar against six major currencies) was at 11:33 AM on June 25th (Vietnam time) at 105.44 points, down 0.03% from the previous session.
