Gasoline prices today April 22, 2025: Turned down sharply by nearly 3% after a series of increases. The main reason is positive signals from negotiations between the US and Iran.

According to an update from Oilprice at 4:30 a.m. Vietnam time, Brent oil price fell to $66.14/barrel, down 2.68% or $1.82. At the same time, WTI oil price also fell 2.60% to $62.97/barrel.

Harry Tchilinguirian, an expert at Onyx Capital Group, said that the progress in the US-Iran negotiations has opened up the possibility of Iranian crude oil returning to the market, which immediately put downward pressure on prices. In addition, market liquidity has also decreased due to the Easter holiday, making price fluctuations even stronger.

At the same time, Iran announced that it was drafting a framework for a new nuclear deal with the United States. This came after the United States imposed sanctions on a Chinese refinery over its dealings with Iranian crude, further increasing pressure on Tehran.

Energy markets were also hit by concerns about the US economy . President Donald Trump continued to criticize the Fed and demand immediate interest rate cuts, warning that the economy could slow down if not adjusted promptly. Major stock indexes on Wall Street all fell more than 1%, while gold prices rose to a new record, showing the trend of money flowing out of risky assets.

OPEC+ still plans to increase production by 411,000 barrels per day from May, but this increase could be offset by cuts from countries that have produced above their quotas.

Investors see a nearly 50 percent chance of a U.S. recession in the next 12 months, according to a Reuters survey, raising concerns about future oil demand. The United States remains the world's largest oil consumer.

This week, the market continues to monitor important US economic data, including the preliminary manufacturing and services PMI index for April. Analysts say these figures will better reflect the economic impact of tariff policies, and if the weakening trend is confirmed, oil prices may have difficulty approaching the resistance level of $ 70 / barrel.

As of April 22, 2025, domestic retail gasoline prices will still be adjusted according to the adjustment period from 3:00 p.m. on April 17, announced by the Ministry of Finance and Industry and Trade. The current price for E5 RON 92 gasoline is VND 18,498/liter, down VND 384 compared to the previous period. RON 95 gasoline also decreased by VND 351, down to VND 18,856/liter.

Oil prices also fluctuated. Diesel fell by VND206, now at VND17,037/liter. Kerosene fell by VND229, to VND17,184/liter. Fuel oil was the only item to increase in price, up VND58 to VND15,960/kg.

During this operating period, the Joint Ministry did not make any provision or use of the Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund for all products.

Since the beginning of the year, domestic gasoline prices have undergone 16 adjustments, including 7 price decreases, 6 price increases and 3 opposite adjustments, reflecting the complex fluctuations of the world energy market in recent times.
