
Regarding information about the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award 2023-2024, journalist Le Van Nhi – Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Journalists Association and Editor-in-Chief of Quang Nam Newspaper – stated that the entries should focus on reflecting the land and people of Quang Nam, and should have been published in mass media nationwide from March 24, 2023 to March 23, 2024.
- Print journalism awards are divided into two categories: awards for journalistic essays and awards for articles reflecting on events, reporting, quick notes, interviews, investigations, investigative reports, commentaries, essays, and editorials.
- Television journalism has two types of awards: long feature stories and documentaries, and short feature stories and online panel discussions.
- Radio journalism has one type of award for articles in categories such as news reports, live radio programs, narratives, quick reports, feature stories, and investigative journalism.
- Online newspapers have one type of award for articles in the following categories: multimedia reporting (integrating written news, photos, videos , or audio), graphic works (infographics, videographics), and e-magazines (longforms).
- Photojournalism has one type of award for single photos, photo essays, and photo series.
Within the framework of the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award, the Quang Nam Provincial Journalists Association, in coordination with the Provincial Social Insurance Agency, the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the People's Committee of Nam Tra My District, the Department of Information and Communications, the Quang Nam Forest Protection and Development Fund, the Provincial Market Management Department, and the Provincial Steering Committee for Supporting Creative Startups, organized 7 thematic journalism awards.
The deadline for submitting entries is May 10, 2024 ( postmark date). Entries should be sent to: Quang Nam Provincial Journalists Association Office (11 Hung Vuong Street, Tam Ky City). The awards ceremony will be held on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnamese Revolutionary Journalism Day, June 21, 2024.
The total value of the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award and other specialized journalism awards is over 800 million VND. This is both a way to honor journalists and to encourage and motivate them in journalistic activities, making an important contribution to promoting the economic and social development of the province.

Commenting on the strengths of authors and works participating in the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award and other thematic awards over the years, journalist Le Van Nhi said that the quality of journalism has clearly improved, most notably with reporters and journalists becoming more mature in their profession and knowing how to apply technology in their work. Therefore, the competition among the various types of journalism participating in the award is very fierce.

Regarding some points to note in selecting works for the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award, journalist Le Van Nhi requested that authors and groups of authors choose works that meet the criteria and regulations of the award, submit them in the correct genre, and focus on quality works that closely follow outstanding events of the province. At the same time, attention should be paid to works with content about exemplary individuals and good deeds, and journalistic photographs with a narrative quality…
"This year there are 7 thematic awards with very high prizes, but the competition is not as fierce as the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award. Therefore, authors and groups of authors should prioritize works that meet the criteria to participate in order to have a chance of winning an award," journalist Le Van Nhi informed.

At the seminar, journalists who have been members of the judging panel for the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award and other thematic awards over the years shared information about the positive aspects and limitations of authors and works participating in the competition. They also proposed solutions to improve the quality of journalism and move towards professionalism in the selection of entries.
