Regarding the 18th Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award 2023 - 2024, journalist Le Van Nhi - Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of Quang Nam Newspaper said that the works submitted for the award focus on reflecting the land and people of Quang Nam, and have been used in mass media nationwide from March 24, 2023 to March 23, 2024.
- Print newspapers have two types of awards: journalism awards and awards for reflections, reports, notes, interviews, investigations, investigative reports, commentary, essays, and editorials.
- Visual journalism has 2 types of awards, including long reportage, documentary and short reportage, online discussion.
- Spoken newspapers have 1 type of award for the categories of reflective articles, live radio programs, reports, snapshots, reports, and investigations.
- Electronic newspapers have 1 type of award for the categories of multimedia reflection articles (integrating written articles, photos, videos or audio), graphic works (infographics, videographics), electronic magazines (e-Magazine, longform).
- Photojournalism has 1 type of award for single photos, photo reports, and photo series.
Within the framework of the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award, the Quang Nam Provincial Journalists Association in coordination with the provincial Social Insurance, the provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Nam Tra My District People's Committee, the Department of Information and Communications, the Quang Nam Forest Protection and Development Fund; the provincial Market Management Department and the Provincial Creative Startup Support Steering Committee organized 7 specialized journalism awards.

Commenting on the advantages of authors and works participating in the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award and thematic awards in recent years, journalist Le Van Nhi said that the quality of journalism has increased significantly, most clearly in the reporters and journalists who have matured in the profession and know how to apply technology in their work. Therefore, the competition in the types of journalism participating in the awards is very fierce.

“This year there are 7 thematic awards with very high prizes, but the competition is not as fierce as the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award. Therefore, authors and groups of authors prioritize works that meet the criteria to participate in order to win the prize” - journalist Le Van Nhi informed.
At the seminar, journalists who are members of the jury of the Huynh Thuc Khang Journalism Award and thematic awards in recent years informed about the positive and negative aspects of the authors and works when participating in the award. At the same time, they proposed solutions to improve the quality of journalism, aiming for professionalism in selecting works for the competition.
