
The year 2025 has special significance as Vietnam and the world celebrate the 30th anniversary of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, and continue to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Following the success of the first National Press Award on Gender Equality in 2024, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union continues to coordinate with the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the Vietnam Journalists Association to organize the second National Press Award on Gender Equality in 2026.
The award aims to recognize and honor the important contributions of the press and media in promoting gender equality; continue to strongly spread messages and prioritize actions on gender equality after the Month of Action for Gender Equality and Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence in 2025; and at the same time create new momentum for communication work on gender equality in 2026, contributing to raising awareness and responsibility of the whole society in realizing the goal of gender equality.
In order for the award to achieve many practical results, the Central Presidium of the Vietnam Women's Union requests that central press agencies and provinces and cities across the country pay attention to coordinating and widely promoting the 2nd National Press Award on Gender Equality in 2026; at the same time, encourage and motivate journalists, reporters and editors to select excellent press works to compete.
The content of the entries focuses on three main topics: Promoting prevention and response to gender-based violence; promoting gender equality in digital transformation; promoting gender equality in economic development.
Entries in four types of journalism: print, electronic, radio and television, published/broadcast on mass media from December 1, 2024 to March 30, 2026, and meeting the criteria of the award can be submitted.
Journalistic works entered into the contest fall into one of two categories.
The group of political - investigative - reflective - thematic works includes genres: commentary, treatise, reportage, investigative reportage, reflective articles, interviews, panel discussions, television/radio reports, video clips, podcasts, infographics... focusing on exploiting issues, policies, and practices related to gender equality, women's empowerment in digital transformation, economic development, and prevention and response to gender-based violence...
The group of typical character works includes portraits, reports, interviews, introductions, and honors of typical individuals and groups with outstanding models, activities, and initiatives in communication, advocacy, and creative solutions to promote gender equality in digital transformation, economic development, and ending gender-based violence...
For print and electronic newspapers: Each work must not exceed 5 issues/articles, each issue/article must not exceed 2,500 words.
For radio: Each work must be no longer than 5 episodes/articles with a total duration of no more than 30 minutes, with an audio file and narration/script.
For television: Each work must be no longer than 5 episodes/articles with a total duration of no more than 60 minutes.
For podcasts: Works must not exceed 30 minutes in length, have an audio file with narration/script, and clearly state the release date on the digital platform.
All authors whose works or series of press works with the above contents are published or broadcast on mass media licensed by competent State agencies and in accordance with the criteria of the award can submit to the contest. Works that have participated in other press awards and won awards will not be eligible to participate.
Entries should be sent by post to the Organizing Committee of the 2026 National Journalism Award on Gender Equality, Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union, 39 Hang Chuoi Street, Hai Ba Trung Ward, Hanoi City, or via email: giaibaochibdg2026@gmail.com. The deadline for receiving entries is from November 27, 2025 to April 5, 2026.
