Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh presented the B prize to the authors and works.

Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang and Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh presented the B prize to the authors and works.

At this awards ceremony, author Nguyen Thi Van (Ha Van, Song May, An An, Bao Minh, Van Ha) – from the Journalists & Public Opinion Newspaper, Central Agencies Branch of the Vietnam Journalists Association – was honored with the B prize for her series of 5 articles: Revolutionary Journalism & its Guiding Mission.

Accordingly, the work “Revolutionary Journalism and the Mission of Guidance” by the Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper looked directly at the negative aspects, partly finding solutions from the ethical “cracks” and from the cases of law violations by journalists in recent times…

In particular, the strong message of the series of works “Revolutionary journalism and the guiding mission” is: In any period, “journalism for the revolution, for the Party, for the people” - is both the goal, the condition, and the ethical standard in journalism activities. And to do that, journalism has no other way but to return to the core values of journalism, there is no higher goal than serving the Fatherland, serving the people. Every journalist must always keep in mind what veteran journalist Phan Quang once shared: “An ethical journalist is someone who has enough courage to overcome the corruption of the dark side of society, maintain his heart, focus on the interests of the country, and take the interests of the country as the focus”.

The author also hopes to spread the message about the profession: that, amidst numerous pressures and challenges, true revolutionary journalists should think about Uncle Ho, the Party, the people, and the reason for their existence, striving to regain public trust, uphold core values, and preserve the revolutionary spirit within the professional culture. And surely, along that journey, the beloved words of Uncle Ho will always resonate: “A journalist is first and foremost a revolutionary cadre!”; “A revolutionary cadre must possess revolutionary ethics. Only by upholding revolutionary ethics can one be a true cadre. Success or failure in any endeavor depends primarily on whether the cadre is imbued with revolutionary ethics or not.”…

Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Vice Chairman of the National Press Awards Council and Ms. Vu Viet Trang, General Director of Vietnam News Agency presented the Encouragement Prize to the authors and works.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Lam, Deputy Minister of Information and Communications and Vice Chairman of the National Press Awards Council, and Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association and Member of the National Press Awards Council, along with Mr. Phan Xuan Thuy, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department and Vice Chairman of the National Press Awards Council, and Ms. Vu Viet Trang, Director General of the Vietnam News Agency, presented the Encouragement Awards to the authors and their works.

For the consolation prize, the group of authors: Nguyen Quan Tuan, Tran Van Quoc, Quach Ha Duong - Journalist & Public Opinion Newspaper, Central Journalist Association of Vietnam Journalists Association was honored to win the prize with the work: 5-part series: Openly "dividing plots" and illegally buying and selling cemetery land in Hanoi.

The above series of articles points out that land management and use in recent times have had many shortcomings, and that land laws still have loopholes that many people take advantage of for corruption and profiteering. In particular, there are signs of laxity in land management in some places, including people's cemetery land - a place considered extremely sensitive.

The group of authors also clarified the matter: From the reality of a dense population, the need to find a burial place for relatives in people's cemeteries is very high, leading to many cemetery management sub-committees and cemetery managers showing signs of profiteering, illegally "dividing" cemetery land, and illegally buying and selling cemetery land. There are households and individuals who take advantage of agricultural land plots in cemetery planning to also divide and sell hundreds of graves for profit. Or even people who have lived for a long time, have permanent residence in the locality, but when they want to bury their relatives, they have to pay an unreasonable "cemetery service" fee, not approved by the competent authority.

After being published, the series of articles left a positive impact, and was recognized by the authorities at all levels and the Hanoi City Police, who promptly directed corrections. In particular, the series of articles left a deep impression, protecting the people and protecting justice.
