National amateur tennis tournament in Da Nang promises to be exciting

On March 29th, the Vietnam Television Center for the Central and Central Highlands regions (VTV8), the Vietnam Tennis Federation, and the Department of Culture and Sports of Da Nang City organized the opening ceremony of the VTV8 Cup - 2024 National Amateur Tennis Tournament.

The tournament will take place from March 28-30 at Tuyen Son Sports Village (Hai Chau District, Da Nang City). Prior to that, on March 28, at VTV8, the organizing committee held a meeting of the referees and drew lots for the competition schedule.

The VTV8 Cup 2024 National Amateur Tennis Tournament features six competition categories: men's doubles (leaders), men's doubles (under 40 years old), men's doubles (41-50 years old), men's doubles (51 years old and above), women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

The competition attracted 24 teams with over 100 registered athletes. After the draw and scheduling of each event, the teams were divided into groups for a single round-robin tournament, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout round.

The VTV8 Cup National Amateur Tennis Tournament - 2024 attracted more than 100 athletes from various provinces and cities.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, Director of VTV8, stated that the opening and closing ceremonies and some important matches will be broadcast live on VTV8 and livestreamed on VTV8's digital platforms. The live broadcast schedule for the closing ceremony and some content from the final match will air at 4 PM and be rebroadcast at 9:40 PM on March 30th.

Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, Director of VTV8, delivered the opening speech for the tournament.

"With the advantage of being a media channel, VTV8 hopes to attract many people to the program. This will create a high-quality tennis tournament with beautiful matches, contributing to the increasingly strong spread of the movement of practicing and competing in sports to a large number of officials, employees, and people from all walks of life across the country," said Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh.

The VTV8 Cup National Amateur Tennis Tournament - 2024 is being held for the first time and is part of the official tournament system of the Vietnam Tennis Federation.

This is also one of the practical activities aimed at celebrating the 35th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Tennis Federation (May 27, 1989 - May 27, 2024) and welcoming the 49th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang City (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2024).
