Faced with the question, "Do successful people need to change?", Ms. Nguyen Kim Ngoc Quyen, Director of Prudential Tay Ninh 1 General Agency Office, has her own answer after many years pursuing a career in insurance. She believes that change always has two sides, "risk" and "opportunity," but to survive, one must break through to avoid being left behind.
Against market winds, the "youthful spirit" confidently embarks on entrepreneurial ventures.
Having entered the insurance industry right after graduation, Ms. Quyen faced many difficulties, from unstable income to prejudices about the profession. At that time, having a stable job was precious to her, so she devoted all her efforts to doing each task well without thinking about setting bigger goals for her career.
"There were times when I wanted to give up, but thanks to the fortunate encounters with mentors, they helped me enlighten my thinking and clearly define my goals. That's what motivated me to change myself and overcome difficulties," Ms. Quyen shared. Throughout that journey, the team spirit and the support of Prudential became a foundation that helped her bravely change herself and persevere in pursuing her career to the end.
To prepare for major changes, Ms. Quyen set many specific goals to move forward. Through company training sessions, she identified short-term and long-term goals, along with feasible implementation plans. Seeing her colleagues have the opportunity to participate in the StarClub trip to meet outstanding Prudential consultants from around the world , she and her close colleagues decided to organize more customer networking conferences to get closer to their sales targets. Thanks to her perseverance and dedication to her work, Ms. Quyen has since become a team manager at Prudential.
However, amidst the challenges facing the insurance industry, Ms. Quyen saw both "danger" and "opportunity." The "danger" stemmed from her fear of being left behind if she didn't develop and adapt to break through. But at the same time, she realized there were many opportunities to challenge herself and seek new experiences. "Even though I know it's difficult, I still want to do it and persevere little by little, sticking with insurance to the end, ignoring all the negative prejudices around me," she confided.
Above all, she clearly sensed a positive shift in the awareness of insurance among the people of Tay Ninh , although not yet significant, but for her, it was a ray of hope amidst a volatile market. Despite facing much opposition from colleagues, Ms. Quyen remained steadfast and determined on the path she had chosen. From a team manager position, Ms. Quyen rose to become the Director of Prudential Tay Ninh 1 General Agency Office.
She shared: "As a manager, I chose to change careers to become the General Agency Office Director because I 'love' insurance and hope that others will also 'love' insurance as much as I do, so they can understand and choose the best protection for themselves." Here, "love" not only expresses her attachment to the profession but also the deep affection she has for the work she has been involved in for many years.
Daring to change is the key to success.
Ms. Quyen understands that for the office to develop sustainably, training the team of consultants also needs to be prioritized. Whether successful or not, that journey will be more arduous without teamwork. Therefore, her key lies in continuously strengthening and developing internal capabilities. "Business management needs to be solid to be able to guide and mentor those who are 'blank slates' in the profession. Everything takes time; you can't rush it. Like a garden, we have to care for, nurture, and clean it every day to see its growth," she shared.
All the meticulous preparations by her and her team are aimed at helping Prudential Tay Ninh 1 General Agency Office become a Gold GAD within two years, sooner than the company's expected timeframe of three years. This is a major challenge, but she believes that with determination and the right strategy, the entire office will achieve this goal. "For me, success is a journey of experience and constant self-reflection; sometimes this is even more important than the final destination," she added.
One of Prudential's clearest examples of its partnership with General Agency Office Managers in adapting to and overcoming market headwinds is the new general agency office model, launched in Q4 2023.
This is a significant step forward in keeping up with the new demands of the market, thereby attracting more young talent. This model affirms Prudential's commitment to investing in people – a core value. Ms. Quyen believes that the new model will not only optimize work efficiency but also create opportunities to attract and develop young talents, bringing insurance closer to potential customers.
Looking back on her journey with Prudential, Ms. Quyen is always proud of what she has achieved, but she also always emphasizes that development never stops. For her, no matter what stage of her career, as long as she dares to change and perseveres little by little, she will reach the hearts of customers and conquer her goals. "Even in difficult times, I always remind myself and my team 'don't be discouraged by the rough seas,' accepting change and persevering forward will help me create sustainable and long-lasting value," Ms. Quyen affirmed.
