On the morning of June 1st, a ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Vietnam Football Federation to announce the appointment of the new Technical Director of the Vietnam Football Federation.
New VFF Technical Director: Koshida Takeshi
The person chosen by the VFF to fill the position of Technical Director is Mr. Koshida Takeshi, replacing Mr. Yusuke Adachi.
Mr. Takeshi, born in 1960, is a former player who made 19 appearances for the Japanese national team between 1980 and 1985.
The new technical director of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has over 30 years of experience coaching the Japanese U22 and U18 national youth teams. He holds an AFC Pro license.
For most of his career, Takeshi primarily worked in football management rather than coaching.
He often teaches the C, B, and A courses for the Japan Football Association.
Prior to 2012, Takeshi only coached university soccer teams or served as technical director for mid-tier clubs in Japan.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, VFF General Secretary Duong Nghiep Khoi said: “This is an important event in the development of youth football or the system of training young coaches for training centers and football clubs.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) has collaborated and exchanged information with the Japan Football Association and has been introduced to an experienced expert who can help Vietnamese football develop sustainably. That expert is Mr. Koshida Takeshi.
The VFF believes that Mr. Takeshi will effectively implement the plan in his new position, working with the VFF to train and develop youth football as well as the current coaching system.”
Meanwhile, the new VFF Technical Director emphasized: “I feel fortunate to take on this position. Vietnam is a dynamic country with a developed football culture, especially youth football.”
"I hope to contribute my small part in training the next generation of young players to help Vietnamese football participate in the 2026 or 2030 World Cup."
