On the morning of January 13th, speaking to VTC News , the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, Dr. Hoang Ngoc Long, stated that the school had announced the results of its disciplinary action against lecturer MH.
The Board of Directors of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music stated that the handling of lecturers who violate regulations will be based on the previously issued Code of Conduct in schools, depending on the severity of the violation, and appropriate action will be taken. Regarding lecturer MH's misconduct, the meeting unanimously agreed on a reprimand as the disciplinary measure.
In addition, the school confirms that it has not received any notification from the faculty regarding musician Luu Thien Huong's cessation of teaching at the school.
Lecturer MH, who threw a phone at artist Luu Thien Huong, has been reprimanded.
Mr. Long said: “Although the school is currently holding exams and all departments are busy, recognizing the importance of the matter, the Board of Directors convened an emergency meeting. After investigating the incident, we found that lecturer MH's behavior was wrong and unprofessional for an educator. Lecturer MH himself has also admitted that his actions were wrong.”
According to the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, on the evening of January 12th, the school's leadership learned about the incident through the personal page and complaint of musician Luu Thien Huong.
The school has not yet received any notification from musician Luu Thien Huong requesting to cease teaching at the school.
Recognizing the importance of the situation, the school's leadership, including the Board of Directors, the Party Committee, the People's Inspection Committee, the School Inspectorate, the Head of Department, and representatives from the personnel department, were summoned to a meeting regarding this matter. Therefore, there is no question of the school ignoring the complaint letter from musician Luu Thien Huong.
Furthermore, the leadership of the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music announced that they plan to invite lecturer MH and musician Luu Thien Huong to a meeting no later than the beginning of next week. Initially, the school will facilitate a reconciliation meeting between the two parties to resolve the issues, foster understanding, and prevent similar unpleasant incidents from occurring again.
As VTC News reported, on January 12th, musician Luu Thien Huong posted a video and an article accusing a female colleague, a lecturer at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music, of throwing a phone at her after she offered advice and argued about professional matters.
Specifically, Luu Thien Huong disagreed with the MH lecturer's decision to prohibit students from using laptops to process audio and sing along to pre-mastered beats.
She said, "Because Ms. H. didn't understand my explanation, I asked the technical department to check and provide a professional explanation, but she refused. Seeing that some of her comments were offensive and unfounded, I used my phone to record them to defend myself. Ms. H. then threw her phone at me, but luckily I managed to dodge it."
The female artist has filed a complaint with the school's leadership and is awaiting a satisfactory resolution.
