
According to a VNA reporter in Tokyo, the decision to appoint Honorary Consul of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Nagoya city, Aichi prefecture, with the consular area covering the entire Aichi prefecture, for a term of 3 years, was handed over to Professor, Dr. Natsume Nagato by Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Pham Quang Hieu, authorized by the leaders of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu emphasized: “With the appointment for a new term, we hope that with his boundless love for Vietnam, he will continue to perform well the functions of an Honorary Consul. Accordingly, promoting multifaceted relations between Aichi and Vietnam, supporting citizen protection work, and connecting the community.”

For his part, Mr. Natsume expressed his pride in Vietnam's trust and pledged to continue his efforts for the development of Vietnam-Japan relations. Mr. Natsume shared: "Currently, Vietnam is developing strongly like a dragon flying up." He affirmed that he will do his best to contribute to the people and Government of Vietnam, as well as continue his efforts for the peace and happiness of the Vietnamese community in Aichi, which is growing day by day.

Mr. Natsume is a Professor at Aichigakuin University and was appointed Honorary Consul of Vietnam in 2017. For his positive contributions to Vietnam - Japan relations, he was honored to receive the Second Class Labor Medal from the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in April 2016.
