Dream of taking a photo with the national flag at the Military History Museum

On the evening of December 16, delegates attending the 9th National Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union visited the Vietnam Military History Museum. This was an experiential activity within the framework of the Congress.

Each artifact, each story about the history of building and defending the country by our ancestors from the time of Van Lang - Au Lac until now left many emotions in the delegates.

Pham Nguyen Thuy Tien and Tran Thi Tien – Delegation from Dak Lak – spent more than 10 minutes taking photos with the first national flag of Vietnam. The national flag is in the exhibition room of the days of resistance for national independence, giving birth to the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Thuy Tien said that she had long wished to take a photo with the first national flag at the Vietnam Military History Museum. “I searched online and saw that you were allowed to take photos here. I really wanted to take a photo with this sacred flag. Today, I was able to go to Hanoi, visit the museum, and take a photo with the first national flag of Vietnam. I feel so sacred and moved,” Thuy Tien said.

At the museum, little girl Ly Thi Lan Huong, a Pa Then ethnic girl in Tuyen Quang, was moved to tears by the model of Tran Hung Dao forest. Lan Huong was born in 2009 and is one of the youngest delegates of the Congress.

Will organize for union members and youth to return to visit the museum

Huong is studying in grade 10 at Tuyen Quang Province's Ethnic Boarding High School. She plans to choose a university majoring in social sciences. The visit to the Military History Museum is an opportunity for Huong to gain a deeper understanding of history. Huong said that after just one hour at the museum, she loves history more and is grateful to the generations of fathers and brothers who sacrificed their blood to protect the country.

Delegate La Xuan Thanh, Secretary of the Da Nang District Youth Union, was moved by the model of the HQ 505 ship that landed on Co Lin Island as a living landmark to maintain sovereignty over the islands. Mr. Thanh expressed regret that he could not stay longer and hear more stories about the artifacts displayed in the museum.

“I plan to organize a tour for union members and young people to visit the Vietnam Military History Museum in the near future. I want union members and young people to have more time to learn carefully and listen carefully to the special stories in this museum,” said Mr. Thanh.
