Uyên Linh's 'The Vocalist' concert might be the only concert by a female vocalist this year. But should she continue to be labeled a diva?

Ha Anh Tuan, a guest singer at The Vocalist concert at Hoa Binh Theater (Ho Chi Minh City on the evening of November 9th), said he was "enchanted" by Uyen Linh's voice. Quoc Thien, a close friend of the female singer, said she had given the audience "all the best things" after months of preparation.
As for Uyen Linh herself, when introducing The Vocalist concert - celebrating 15 years of her singing career, she said she "wanted to engrave her name in the history of Vietnamese music".
So how did this concert make a name for itself with Uyen Linh?
A concert by a singer who has had many hit songs.
"I'm looking for the simplest definitions. I define my existence as a singer. When I found love with music , I thought it was a terrible love. That love is the meaning of my existence, making me no longer lonely in my soul" - Uyen Linh shared.
The singer didn't share too much about her ambitions, but this concert celebrates the 15th anniversary of the career of a Vietnam Idol winner who was loved by everyone back in 2010.
This was also a concert by a singer who had many hit songs that were either national hits or widely popular: Thank You, Love, Waiting for You There, The Singer of Love Songs, Between the East and West Boulevards...
At the same time, the winner of Vietnam Idol 2010 also sings famous songs by other composers and singers very well: "Anh," "Khi giấc mơ về," "Chỉ là giấc mơ," "Mong manh tình về," "Sao chẳng về với em," "Bước qua mùa cô đơn," etc.

To be considered on par with the four singers often dubbed divas (Thanh Lam, My Linh, Hong Nhung, Ha Tran), Uyen Linh still needs to build a musical direction that is substantial enough to match her voice – a voice that composer Duong Thu once praised as "seductive".
As for the senior singers My Linh and Uyen Linh, they became close after participating together in the "Beautiful Sisters Riding the Waves" show last year. Both have performed together, becoming a singing duo on many stages, big and small.
Uyen Linh once said that she and My Linh are "two energies that attract each other, blending, supporting, and burning brightly together." Being chosen by My Linh to share the stage is no easy feat.
Unfortunately, My Linh couldn't perform a duet with Uyen Linh on The Vocalist stage because she was busy filming "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind" (season 2 of "Beautiful Sister Riding the Wind and Breaking the Waves ").

Uyen Linh is in her own world.
Years of experience have shown that Uyen Linh understands what she's doing. She doesn't engage in overly flashy activities or constantly trend on social media, but she still maintains a stable career.
In Vietnamese music, she operates in a unique, one-of-a-kind style, unlike anyone else, and has her own niche market – audiences who enjoy live performances, frequently visit tea rooms or cozy venues, and love her voice.
To show her gratitude, she also worked hard to improve her singing, performing nearly 20 songs live with great vocal prowess and showcasing difficult techniques during The Vocalist night. Although not every performance was perfect, and her storytelling was a bit affected, the audience still seemed captivated.

Returning to the question "Does Uyen Linh need the title of diva or not?", only Uyen Linh can answer. Because only she knows what she needs and what she is pursuing in her music career. But this is an era where people probably no longer look for divas.
Regardless of whether they have this title or not, Uyen Linh - and Quoc Thien - are true vocalists with proven talent, but there is still much to be proven.
She needs one or two more albums that define her musical personality, bearing her personal stamp, after 2017's The Portrait . She needs more hits that are associated with her name, and establish herself as the best performer.
She needed a more substantial musical path, filled with stories, anecdotes, and memorable moments – something that the repertoire of The Vocalist concert and the conversation segment didn't quite capture.
