Hanoi welcomes the victorious students returning from the International Youth Science Olympiad

GD&TĐ - On December 4, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a meeting to congratulate the student team participating in the 2025 International Junior Science Olympiad on returning from the Russian Federation.

Reporting on the delegation's achievements, Ms. Vuong Huong Giang - Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, head of the delegation - said: The 2025 International Junior Science Olympiad (IJSO) will take place from November 23 to December 2 in the Sirius region, Russian Federation, with the participation of 122 contestants from 24 countries and territories.

Participating in this exam, the Vietnamese delegation has 6 members, all of whom are students of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted. The students have to take 3 exams including: Practice, multiple choice and theory. The exam is designed by a prestigious international academic committee consisting of professors and leading scientists. The questions in the IJSO exam are highly appreciated for their requirements for reasoning, analysis, creativity and scientific skills.

With great determination and effort, all 6 members of the team won medals, including 3 Silver medals and 3 Bronze medals. Silver medals went to Do Bao Trang, Hoang Khoi Nguyen, Tran Ngoc Hung; Bronze medals went to Nguyen Dong Quan, Trinh Nguyen Hung, Do Manh Hung.

Mr. Tran The Cuong - Permanent Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Council, former Director of Hanoi Department of Education and Training congratulated the delegation's achievements.

Congratulating and praising the achievements of the Capital's student delegation at the 2025 International Youth Science Olympiad, Mr. Tran The Cuong - Permanent Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council, former Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said: This is a proud achievement of Hanoi students because the exam has a very high level of difficulty with the participation of many strong countries.

The Hanoi delegation still overcame the time zone difference, the long distance and the complex security factors in the context of conflict, having to compete while ensuring safety. These efforts further demonstrated the bravery, will and capacity of the students and teachers of the capital. As a result, all 6 contestants won medals, which is a very proud achievement.

In his message to the students, Mr. Tran The Cuong said that this is just a favorable first step on their journey of learning and career development. They need to continue to strive to study, equip themselves with more knowledge and skills, to be the core to convey knowledge and passion for science to the students of the next generation.

On this occasion, Mr. Tran The Cuong informed that on December 9, Hanoi will be recognized by UNESCO as a "Global Learning City", which is a driving force for the capital's education sector to continue to innovate and affirm its leading position.

Do Bao Trang, a student at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, the only female student on the team, shared her joy.

Sharing at the ceremony, Do Bao Trang, a student of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, expressed her honor and emotion when she and the members of the delegation received special attention throughout the competition and were warmly welcomed when returning from the International Junior Science Olympiad.

Bao Trang said she was very proud to set foot in Russia, the world's scientific powerhouse, to participate in a highly difficult exam, to exchange and learn with international friends who share the same passion for science. She and her friends also visited historical and cultural sites, broadened their knowledge and introduced Vietnamese culture and people to international friends.

“Overcoming many difficulties and challenges, I tried my best to win the Silver medal. For me, the result is not only the medal but also maturity, confidence in communication, and passion for science. I thank the leaders, teachers and family for always caring and creating conditions for us to study with peace of mind and be confident when competing,” said Bao Trang.
