Hanoi delays announcement of additional benchmark scores for grade 10

According to the previously announced schedule, today, July 10th, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, specialized high schools, and non-specialized high schools under its management will approve the supplementary admission scores for 10th grade.

However, according to information from the leaders of high schools in Hanoi, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has announced the postponement of the supplementary admission score review for 10th grade in specialized and non-specialized high schools.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training's announcement does not yet specify a date for the next review.

The postponement of the supplementary grade-10 admissions cutoff scores has caused great anxiety among many parents whose children did not get accepted into their three preferred schools or were accepted into schools that were not their desired schools.

According to regulations from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, each candidate can register for 3 preferences for admission to 10th grade in public high schools, arranged in order of priority: Preference 1, Preference 2, Preference 3.

Students who are admitted to their first choice (NV1) will not be considered for subsequent choices. If they are not admitted to their first choice, they will be considered for their second and third choices, but their admission scores must be 1-2 points higher than the school's cutoff score.

This regulation leads to an awkward situation where, despite achieving very high scores, candidates still fail to get into public schools. For example, if a candidate scores 40 points and all three of their choices are for the top 10 schools this year, then that candidate loses the opportunity to attend a public high school.

Therefore, in reality, many candidates are waiting for the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to announce the supplementary admission scores so they have a chance to study at public high schools.
