Hai Duong focuses resources on social security

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Van Hieu chaired the conference.

On May 9, the Steering Committee for the Social Security Program of Hai Duong province for the period 2021-2025 met to assess the implementation of the province's social security programs.

Comrade Le Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Head of the Steering Committee for the Social Security Program of Hai Duong province for the period 2021-2025 chaired the conference.

In his concluding remarks, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Van Hieu requested members of the Steering Committee to continue advising on the effective implementation of social security policies that have been issued; ensure investment resources for programs; and promote local democracy in balancing and allocating budgets for social security.

Comrade Luong Van Viet, Director of the Departmentof Education and Training of Hai Duong province, presented solutions for effective investment in social security programs in the education and training sector of the province.

Affirming that in recent times, Hai Duong province has effectively implemented many programs to care for people with the goal of "For the benefit of the people", the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested relevant departments, branches, sectors and localities to prioritize resources for education and vocational development, especially key schools and occupations. Implement social insurance policies well; support businesses to overcome difficulties, create jobs, increase income for workers, reduce unemployment and underemployment rates...

Comrade Tran Thi Hai Ha, Deputy Director of the Department of Finance, analyzed the results of a number of social security programs that have been and are being implemented recently.

In the coming time, Hai Duong will focus on implementing many policies related to improving the quality of human resources; creating conditions for the poor to settle down and increase their income. In localities with many poor households, it is necessary to carefully analyze the causes and find solutions to help them escape poverty sustainably. Implementing social security policies must ensure fairness and harmony among subjects.

In 2024, Hai Duong will spend more than 2,000 billion VND to implement social security policies. From 2021 to April 2024, departments, branches and sectors of Hai Duong province have advised the Provincial People's Committee to submit to the Provincial People's Council to issue 23 resolutions to implement social security policies, focusing on social security groups for labor, health, education and training, etc.

Many key goals and targets of the social security program in Hai Duong have achieved positive results. The poverty rate has decreased from 1.69% (in 2022) to 1.34% (in 2023). The unemployment and underemployment rates have remained below 2%...
