During the working session on the morning of December 3 in Hai Phong city, the working delegation of the Suwon City Trade Union Federation and the Hai Phong City Labor Federation discussed many issues related to the care and protection of workers in the context of strong industrial development of the two localities.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Quyet, Permanent Vice President of the City Labor Federation, after the merger, Hai Phong city now has a population of more than 4.6 million people, is among the largest urban areas in Vietnam, and owns the largest industrial park and export processing zone system in the North with more than 20 industrial parks and clusters. The entire city has 2,820 grassroots trade unions with nearly 600,000 union members, and is among the localities with the largest trade union network in the country.
Many models being implemented by the Hai Phong City Labor Federation have shown clear effectiveness, such as: Safe and civilized boarding houses, Trade Union physical training points, App for workers - Hai Phong Labor Union, Fund for loans for poor workers, or the model of socialist grassroots trade unions - a pioneering model nationwide. These initiatives are highly appreciated by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and trade unions of many provinces and cities for their practicality.

At the meeting, the Hai Phong City Labor Federation also recognized the important contributions of Korean enterprises in socio -economic development and job creation for workers. The city has attracted more than 150 Korean enterprises with tens of thousands of workers, of which LG Group enterprises alone create jobs for about 27,000 people. These enterprises closely coordinate with the trade union organization in implementing legal policies and regimes, caring for welfare, training in labor safety skills and organizing activities to improve the cultural life of union members.
The two sides spent time discussing issues of mutual concern such as methods of negotiating and signing collective labor agreements, solutions to ensure safety and security for workers, ways to prevent black credit among workers, propaganda work on legal policies, or measures to support safety when workers participate in traffic.
The Trade Unions of the two localities agreed to maintain a mechanism for sharing information, exchanging experiences and coordinating activities to improve capacity and promote the role of representing and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers in the coming period.
The Suwon Provincial Federation of Trade Unions (now Suwon City) and the Hai Duong Provincial Federation of Labor (now Hai Phong City) signed a memorandum of understanding in 2013, establishing bilateral relations to strengthen solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding between union members and workers of the two localities.
