NDO - On November 21st, the 263rd and 265th Naval Squadrons of the 5th Naval Region Command arrived at Phu Quoc military port ( Kien Giang province), successfully concluding their 50th annual joint patrol with the 511th and 521st Naval Squadrons of the Royal Thai Navy.
Previously, from November 19th to 20th, in the waters bordering Vietnam and Thailand, naval squadrons from both countries coordinated joint patrols along six routes covering a distance of over 430 nautical miles.
During the patrol, both sides conducted the maritime greeting procedure between ASEAN naval vessels (Hello ASEAN); practiced flag signals, lights, and horn signals according to the International Code of Signals; practiced target announcement by watch officers; conducted search and rescue exercises; and implemented the Code of Conduct for Unplanned Encounters at Sea of the Navies of the Western Pacific (CUES).

Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Cuong, Commander of the 175th Naval Brigade and Commander of the Vietnamese Navy's patrol boat squadron, stated that despite performing their duties in adverse weather conditions, with high waves and strong winds, the officers and soldiers of the 263rd and 265th patrol boat squadron demonstrated a high sense of responsibility, completing 100% of the coordination with the Thai Navy according to the Joint Patrol Regulations and establishing a communication channel between the Vietnam People's Navy and the Royal Thai Navy, which was signed by the Commanders of the two navies on June 14, 1999.
With thorough preparation and close coordination, the 50th joint patrol was a great success. This contributed to maintaining security and order in the maritime border area between Vietnam and Thailand, while further promoting cooperative relations, enhancing mutual understanding and trust between the navies of the two countries.
