Thousands of tourists flock to Am Tien on the day of "heaven's gate opening"

From early morning on February 6 (the 9th day of Lunar New Year), thousands of tourists flocked to Am Tien National Historical Site, Nua town, Trieu Son district) to worship, enjoy the scenery and pray for peace.

Every year, on the 9th of January, the locality solemnly organizes the opening ceremony of the Nua - Am Tien Temple Festival and the "opening of the gate to heaven" ceremony on the top of Nua Mountain. The place where the "opening of the gate to heaven" is the highest point of the mountain, the location of the acupuncture point. Pilgrims come here to pray for luck, for a peaceful and healthy new year.

At the acupuncture point area - where the "gate to heaven" opens, many people and tourists gathered to pray for a peaceful year and smooth sailing.

People go around the acupuncture point, rubbing money on the stone ball to pray for luck and health in the new year.

According to belief, to pray for a year of luck, health and happiness, people and tourists coming here will meditate around the acupuncture point (usually men walk 7 times, women walk 9 times).

Ms. Minh Hien, residing in Thanh Hoa City, said: On the day of "opening the gate of heaven", I went to Am Tien to burn incense and pray for a peaceful new year, smooth work, and good luck. This year, the weather was a little rainy, but the number of people coming to Am Tien was still very large. Because the police force was there to direct traffic and arrange parking spaces, there was no traffic jam like every year.

Am Tien is a famous scenic spot associated with the Ba Trieu uprising against the Ngo army in 248.

Located about 30km west of Thanh Hoa city center, the Nua - Am Tien Temple National Historical and Cultural Relic Complex (Nua town, Trieu Son district) includes "Nua Mountain - Nua Temple - Am Tien", planned with a total area of 100 hectares. Nua Peak is the highest mountain in the region with an altitude of 538m above sea level. On the top of the mountain is Nua - Am Tien Temple.

According to feng shui experts, the Am Tien acupuncture point is the convergence point of heaven and earth (or the place where the door to heaven opens), all the spiritual energy of heaven and earth will converge at this sacred acupuncture point. This is considered the place where the energy of Heaven and Earth harmonizes, and is also one of the most important "acupuncture points" in Vietnam.
