Shops "encroach" on Highway 6

Hà Nội MớiHà Nội Mới31/05/2023

(HNMO) - National Highway 6 is the route connecting Hanoi with the provinces of the Northwest. Because this route is narrow, many sections are degraded, while the daily traffic volume is very high, traffic jams often occur during rush hours in some sections passing through Hanoi. However, along the route, many shops and restaurants still brazenly "encroach" on National Highway 6, causing the road to be narrowed, causing serious traffic safety problems.

Some of the most occupied areas include Dong Phuong Yen market area, Dong Phuong Yen commune; Cao Son village, Tien Phuong commune; Dong Tru bridge area, Phu Nghia commune (Chuong My district); Dong Mai ward (Ha Dong district).

Encroachment on the roadway and corridor of National Highway 6 has been going on for many years. The functional forces and local authorities have taken action many times to handle and clear the area, but only for a short time, the violations recur.

National Highway 6, the section passing through Dong Phuong Yen market (Chuong My district), is often encroached upon both the roadway and sidewalk for selling goods. Many households dump water and garbage onto the road, causing environmental pollution.

Every day at around 4pm, street vendors occupy the entire corridor of Highway 6 (Dong Tru Bridge, Phu Nghia Commune, Chuong My District) to sell fruits and food. Buyers “carelessly” park their vehicles right on the road to buy goods, so this section is often congested.

Similarly, the Cao Son village area, Tien Phuong commune (Chuong My district) has long been a place to sell fruits, sugarcane juice, food, etc.

Some households in Ngoc Hoa commune (Chuong My district) even set up umbrellas right on the road to sell fruit...

…and wash cars on the street, regardless of violations.

The welcome gate area bordering Ha Dong district and Chuong My district has become a "market" selling clothes.

In Dong Mai ward (Ha Dong district), the National Highway 6 corridor has become the "private property" of many households along the road to gather machinery and goods.

Propose that functional forces and local authorities increase inspections, strictly handle violations, and restore the openness of National Highway 6.
