With the theme "We Are One", host country Thailand is committed to bringing a top-notch art program, harmoniously combining brilliant traditional culture and the most modern stage technology.

The opening ceremony of the 33rd SEA Games began with a five-chapter art program. Chapter one took the audience back in time to the origins of the SEA Games, when Thailand hosted the first Southeast Asian Games in 1959, also in Bangkok. In the space and atmosphere of the festival, the song “Light up the game” reaffirmed the consistent goal of the SEA Games over the past 66 years: Strengthening cooperation, understanding and friendship among countries in the region.
Chapter two shows strength and spirit through various performance technologies, music , sports and lights. The friendship and solidarity of 11 ASEAN countries will be clearly revealed in these performances.
Chapter three is set to be dedicated to BamBam, with a special performance. The 28-year-old singer and rapper is the pride of Thailand, with over 18 million followers on Instagram.
Chapter four brings together many world- famous Thai people, from athletes to beauty queens, artists, stars, singers, musicians and musicians. Each person will have their own time and space to show their talents.
Chapter five was the torch relay and the lighting of the cauldron, but in a new format. 28-year-old former female taekwondo champion, Panipak Wongpattanakit, was given the responsibility of carrying the final torch and lighting it on the cauldron.

With the support of technology and engineering, the Rajamangala stadium resembles an ocean, in the performance “river of friendship”. With elaborate investment, the underwater ballet and jet ski performances took place spectacularly right in the stadium.

After the parade of the 11-country sports delegation was the procession and flag-raising ceremony of the Southeast Asian Sports Federation and the 33rd SEA Games flag by Thailand's outstanding athletes at the past SEA Games.

In his opening speech, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul emphasized: “Thailand is honored to host the 33rd SEA Games. With the spirit of solidarity of 11 Southeast Asian countries, with more than 12,000 athletes and coaches from countries in the region, we will strive to create a memorable sports festival and aim for common success. On behalf of the Royal Thai Government, I would like to respectfully declare the opening of the 33rd SEA Games."
For nearly a week, the atmosphere of the 33rd SEA Games has covered Thailand and the mass media of 11 countries in the region. From Bangkok to Chonburi, the competitions in football, baseball, bowling, badminton... have taken place attractively.

The preparation process for the 33rd SEA Games in the host country Thailand has encountered certain limitations, from the complicated flood situation in southern Thailand that caused the plan to organize competitions in Songkhla province to be canceled. However, Thailand also showed a quick response to difficulties and a synchronous sports infrastructure system, when moving all competitions in Songkhla to Bangkok.
Taking place from December 9 to 20, the 33rd SEA Games will host 50 official medal sports, with 574 events. Like other sports delegations attending the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation will attend the Games with 1,165 members, including 841 athletes, competing in 47 sports and sub-sports in the official competition program announced by the host country, Thailand. The goal of the delegation is to maintain its position in the top 3 countries and strive to win 90-110 gold medals. Key sports include athletics, swimming, rowing, canoeing, wrestling, shooting, archery and martial arts... Of which, the four key sports: athletics, swimming, shooting and wrestling are expected to bring home at least 32 gold medals, equivalent to about 1/3 of the total target of the delegation.
Athletics is always expected to be a "gold mine" with a target of 12-14 gold medals, based on the stable performance of the women's 400m team, record holder Nguyen Thi Oanh and many events with the potential to compete for gold medals.
Meanwhile, shooting returned after a hiatus from the SEA Games, placing hopes on young athletes like Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy, Le Thi Mong Tuyen and the experience of flying saucer and rapid-fire pistol shooters.
The Vietnamese sports delegation attended the Games with inner strength, determined to overcome their own limits, demonstrating the Vietnamese spirit in competition to achieve the highest results, bringing glory to the Fatherland.
