About a month before the September 2nd holiday, the tourism market has already started to heat up. According to travel agencies, tourists tend to choose short trips to destinations that are not too far away, have convenient travel routes, and offer suitable entertainment and relaxation products.
According to a representative from Saigontourist , the most popular domestic tour packages are trips to Phu Quoc or beaches in central Vietnam, lasting 3-4 days and at affordable prices.
In the northern mountainous region, many places are preparing for the rice harvest season, so destinations like Mu Cang Chai, Lai Chau, Sa Pa, Dien Bien, and Moc Chau are also popular choices for tourists who want to explore the highland culture while taking in the beauty of the sprawling terraced rice fields and the poetic and majestic mountains and forests of Northwest Vietnam.
The domestic market continues to see an increase in the trend of independent travel, especially among families and private groups. Many companies are launching attractive packages that combine accommodation, transportation, and entertainment to meet the needs of tourists.
Notably, a large proportion of tour purchases for the September 2nd holiday this year are still overseas tours lasting 4-6 days, commonly to Southeast Asian and Northeast Asian countries.
This result is quite close to the statistics from Booking.com based on the number of accommodation searches recorded by tourists during the September 2nd holiday. Accordingly, the top 10 international destinations that Vietnamese tourists paid attention to this time were all in the Asia-Pacific region, led by Bangkok (Thailand), followed by Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Singapore, Hong Kong (China), Taipei (Taiwan, China), Sydney (Australia), Bali (Indonesia), and Chiang Mai (Thailand).
Meanwhile, leading the list of most searched domestic destinations is Da Lat, boasting a cool, fresh climate and peaceful, romantic scenery. Coastal cities like Da Nang, Vung Tau, Nha Trang, and heritage-rich destinations such as Hoi An, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hue continue to be featured. Also in the top 10 are Sa Pa, and for the first time, Phan Thiet. These names once again confirm that Vietnamese tourists are increasingly interested in trips that offer diverse experiences, combining exploration and relaxation.

Experts predict that the tourism market for the September 2nd holiday will be more vibrant, but it will still be difficult to create a boom, because domestic tourists have just gone through the long summer travel season and are preparing to enter the autumn and winter travel season, so purchasing power during this period is unlikely to fluctuate significantly.
To enhance the competitiveness of tourist destinations, localities are focusing on organizing many unique events and activities to attract visitors. Notable examples include Da Nang with the BRG Open Golf Championship Danang 2024, the VTV8 Traditional Boat Race, the "Rong-Rao" cultural and artistic exhibition, traditional instrument performances, and street magic shows on both banks of the Han River…
Ho Chi Minh City will feature artistic fireworks displays and street art lighting decorations; Lao Cai will have a series of events during the 2024 Sa Pa Autumn Festival, notably the Mong Village Culture Festival, the "Muong Hoa Fairy Tale" circus performance, the "Golden Season of Ban May" festival, and the "Sa Pa Golden Season" tennis tournament…
According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, nearly 20 events will be organized in the capital during the holiday to attract tourists and serve local residents who do not want to travel far. Notable examples include: the "Ao Dai Connecting Tourism with Hanoi Heritage" program held at the Thang Long Heritage Conservation Center and several streets in Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, and Long Bien districts; a free puppet show at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel; and the "Fairyland" festival at Bao Son Paradise…
To meet the travel demands of tourists during the holiday, road, water, rail, and air transport have all increased their services. In particular, tourist flights are very popular despite the sharp increase in airfares. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, it is estimated that during the four-day National Day holiday this year, Vietnamese airlines will operate a total of 4,257 flights, averaging 840 flights per day, a 3% increase compared to the week before the holiday and a 3.5% increase compared to the same period in 2023.
In particular, routes connecting the three major cities: Hanoi – Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh City are being actively promoted by Vietnamese airlines, with an average of 241 flights per day, an 8% increase compared to the week before the holiday and a 14.9% increase compared to the same period last year.
