The vice principal of a high school slapped a student for smoking and then posted about it on social media.

Speaking with a reporter from Thanh Nien Newspaper this afternoon, September 24th, Ms. Hoang Thi Hao, Principal of Dao Son Tay High School, said that the incident of the vice principal slapping a student occurred on the afternoon of September 20th. This was because on September 19th, a male 12th-grade student smoked an e-cigarette and posted a picture of himself smoking on social media. Therefore, upon learning of this information, the vice principal invited the student to come in for a meeting on the afternoon of September 20th.

However, the student initially denied using e-cigarettes, which angered the vice principal. In a moment of失去 self-control, the vice principal slapped the student on the cheek.

The principal of Dao Son Tay High School said that the incident was immediately reported to the school's leadership. On September 21, the principal chaired a meeting to clarify the matter with the vice principal, the homeroom teacher, and the parents of the student in question.

During the meeting, the vice principal apologized for the incident. The student's parents confirmed that their son experienced ringing in his ears after being slapped by the teacher, had been examined, and was prescribed medication.

Ms. Hao also refuted the information circulating on social media that the student had a ruptured eardrum. The male student is currently attending school as usual.

According to Ms. Hao, the vice principal's physical actions towards the students were wrong, and the school leadership will take this into account when evaluating the vice principal's quarterly and annual performance.

The head of Dao Son Tay High School added: "The vice principal is young, kind, and very well-liked by the students. But I don't understand why this incident happened that day."
