Speaking to Thanh Nien Newspaper reporters this afternoon, September 24, Ms. Hoang Thi Hao, Principal of Dao Son Tay High School, said that the incident of the vice principal slapping the student happened on the afternoon of September 20 because on September 19, a male 12th grade student smoked an electronic cigarette and took a picture to post on social media. Therefore, upon receiving the information, on the afternoon of September 20, the vice principal of the school invited the student to come in for a meeting.

However, the student initially denied using the e-cigarette, which angered the vice principal. In a moment of incontinence, the principal slapped the student on the cheek.

The principal of Dao Son Tay High School said that the incident was immediately reported to the school leadership. On September 21, the principal chaired a meeting to clarify the incident with the vice principal, the homeroom teacher and the parents of the student mentioned above.

At the meeting, the vice principal apologized for the incident that had just occurred. The boy's parents confirmed that their son had tinnitus after being slapped by the teacher, had gone to the doctor and was given medicine.

Ms. Hao also denied the information that this student had a perforated eardrum as spread on social media. Currently, the male student is still going to school as usual.

According to Ms. Hao, the vice principal's physical impact on students was wrong and the school's leaders will take note in evaluating the vice principal's quarterly and annual competitions.

The head of Dao Son Tay High School added: "The vice principal is young, kind and very well-liked by the students. But I don't understand why this incident happened that day."
