Shape of the square and park of 2.14 hectares east of Hoan Kiem Lake
Hanoi plans to start construction of a 2.14-hectare square and park east of Hoan Kiem Lake before October 10, creating more space for community activities and a landscape highlight for the central area of the capital.

The People's Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward ( Hanoi City) has just informed about the investment project to build a Square - Park on the East side of Hoan Kiem Lake. Accordingly, the total area of the square - park is expected to be 2.14 hectares. The number of organizations and individuals to be relocated is 59, including 17 organizations (7 units of the electricity sector and 10 other units) and 42 households. The city has planned the relocation locations of the organizations; households that meet the conditions will be compensated for resettlement with land in Dong Anh commune, Viet Hung urban area and Thuong Thanh resettlement houses.
When relocating and dismantling the infrastructure, valuable architectural works such as the Department of Culture building and the Institute of Literature will be retained; the power plant will be studied for relocation. Two architectural works of the Northern Power Corporation will be temporarily retained to study specific handling options in phase 2. The investor will study the option of retaining the Artdeco style architecture of the Hoan Kiem Power Company, and consider the option of opening the first floor...
Regarding the progress, the Hoan Kiem Ward People's Committee stated that they will implement compensation and resettlement support procedures, the first phase of the investment project, and commence construction before October 10th. Phase 2 will be thoroughly studied with a focus on the approved plan and the opinions of the Hanoi City People's Committee.

According to the planning design, the overall layout of the square - park area east of Hoan Kiem Lake will focus on upgrading public spaces, improving traffic connections and preserving important cultural works.
The area east of Hoan Kiem Lake will form a community living space, organize art activities, exhibitions and cultural events, contributing to improving the spiritual life of the people.
Within the scope of the Eastern square - park, Hanoi City plans to build underground works (3 basements), with a total floor area of about 42,300 m2.
According to the plan, in the 3 basement floors in the square east of Hoan Kiem Lake, the commercial and cultural floor area is about 14,000 m2; the technical floor and auxiliary area is about 5,100 m2; the traffic space and basement ramp are about 12,700 m2; the parking area is about 10,370 m2.

The total land area within the red line of station C9 is 7,700 m2, including permanent and temporary land occupation works.
The permanent land occupation of C9 station includes: station entrance and exit structures; ventilation shafts; cooling towers. The temporary land occupation is only applied during the construction project and will be returned to the city when C9 station is completed.
