Hoa Phat invests in high-quality steel production line of Primetals Group

Hoa Phat Group has just signed a contract with Primetals Group to invest in a high-quality steel casting and rolling line. Hoa Phat wants to produce automotive steel bars, fabricated steel, bearing steel, prestressed steel, etc.

On April 11th, Hoa Phat Group announced that it had signed a contract with Primetals Group to supply a high-quality steel casting and rolling line with a capacity of 500,000 tons per year.

With this production line, the "king of Vietnamese steel" aims to boost the production of high-quality steel products, such as: automotive tire cords (bead wire), structural steel, bearing steel, prestressed steel, etc.

According to the plan, the rolling line is expected to supply its first products in Q3 2026, and the casting line will be put into operation in Q4 2026.

To prepare for this plan, Primetals Group will design, supply, and install a billet casting machine that will enable Hoa Phat to produce a wide range of high-quality steel products.

In particular, this production line also integrates and stores large-format billet casting modules for producing rail steel (bloom), and beam blanks for producing steel profiles up to 800mm for the steel structure industry.

Simultaneously, Primetals supplied Hoa Phat with high-quality wire rod rolling lines. The products of these lines include steel for tire cords and beadwires, cold-stamped steel, prestressed steel, non-alloy spring steel, steel for crane cables, and precision screw steel, among others.

The production line also integrates the production of smooth round steel bars and coiled steel bars for the processing and manufacturing industries, as well as the defense industry.

These are the most modern production lines of Primetals - a corporation owned by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, headquartered in London, England.

Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Phat Group, said that Hoa Phat will focus on boosting the production of high-quality steel and structural steel to help replace high-grade steel products that are currently being imported.

Mr. Long affirmed that Hoa Phat is confident in its ability to produce various types of steel for the railway industry, train wheel axles, and high-speed trains as ordered by the Government, as well as high-quality steel for key national projects and for export to the global market.

Mr. Satoru Iijima, CEO of Primetals Corporation, pledged to provide the highest quality equipment and ensure the project is completed on schedule.

With the commissioning of this new production line, Hoa Phat Group will possess a leading range of high-quality steel products in the region, meeting the most stringent global standards.

Primetals Group, one of the world's leading companies in metallurgical technology, supplied the project's key equipment, imported from G7 countries, ensuring the highest standards of quality and performance.

This is also a long-standing partner of Hoa Phat. Previously, the hot-rolled steel coil production line at the HRC2 plant, part of the Hoa Phat Dung Quat 2 project, was also designed and supplied by this group.
