Hanoi students won five medals at the 2024 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics

On August 27, information from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training said that at the 2024 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), the Vietnamese student team won five medals.

Two Silver Medals were won by Nguyen Ba Linh and Nguyen Xuan Hoang; Three Bronze Medals were won by Nguyen Thi Thu Minh, Luu Quang Minh and Dam Ngoc Bao Lam.

The IOAA competition took place in Brazil from August 17 to 27. The Hanoi delegation representing Vietnam included 5 students from Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted; the head of the delegation was Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Nguyen Quang Tuan; the observer was Head of the Secondary Education Department, Hanoi Department of Education and Training Ha Xuan Nham; the team leader was Physics teacher, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted Le Manh Cuong.

This year, the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) has the participation of nearly 300 contestants from 53 countries and territories. This is the 8th time Vietnam has participated in this competition.

Through 3 parts of the competition including: Theory in 5 hours; Data processing lasting 3 hours; Observation (day and night) with a total time of 2 hours and 15 minutes, the Vietnamese student team participating in the competition excellently achieved high results.

The Hanoi student team, representing Vietnamese students in the IOAA competition since 2016, has continuously achieved good results, affirming Vietnam's position in the international arena.
