According to the survey results of the employment situation of students after 1 year of graduation (for the 45th course and the 44th law administration course graduating in 2024) of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, 77.9% of students work in the private sector. This number increased by nearly 11% compared to the survey results of the previous year.

According to the survey, the rate of students working in the public sector decreased at a corresponding rate, to only 16.1%.

In terms of professional relevance, more than 90% of students are working in jobs that are in or related to their field of study. Specifically, 66.7% are working in their field of study and 31.7% are working in jobs related to their field of study.

The 2025 survey results also recorded a significant improvement in income levels. 77.6% of students have an average income of 10 million to less than 20 million VND/month (an increase of 33.6% compared to the 2024 survey). 9.3% of students have an income of 20 million VND or more.

In terms of job search time, 32.3% of students found jobs immediately after graduation and 53.1% found jobs within 3 to 6 months. Notably, the rate of unemployed students is only 2.57%, down 0.53% compared to 2024.

The survey also pointed out that the main reason why a small number of students are unemployed is due to lack of work experience. Most students after graduation have proactively participated in additional training courses on skills and professions (lawyer, notary...) to meet job requirements.

In reality, MSc. Mai Hieu Hanh - Deputy Chief Justice of the People's Court of Region 4, Ho Chi Minh City - said that students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law quickly grasp the work when interning at the court, showing efficiency and a high sense of responsibility. The unit often assigns additional tasks and sets higher expectations because it believes in the students' ability to receive and handle work.

Although highly appreciating the students' fundamental knowledge and basic skills, Mr. Pham Duc Anh - assistant lawyer at Dong Phuong Luat Law Firm LLC - commented that students need to accumulate more practical experience through internships and work at businesses.

Lawyer Pham Thi Que Tran (KAV Lawyers LLC) assessed that students of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law have a solid legal knowledge base and a high spirit of learning. A number of students are still inclined towards academics, so sometimes they are not really proactive in work communication.
