Previously, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs announced the National Day holiday schedule for September 2nd this year for officials, civil servants, and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations from Saturday (August 31st) to Tuesday (September 3rd).
This holiday period includes two days off for National Day and two days off for the weekend. Therefore, civil servants and employees of administrative agencies, public service organizations, political organizations, and socio-political organizations will have a maximum of four days off.
Based on the above schedule, students of all levels in 63 provinces and cities, including Hanoi, will have a 4-day holiday for September 2nd. However, secondary and high school students, who have Saturdays as per regulations, will have a 3-day holiday.
The National Day holiday schedule for students may be adjusted based on the specific situation and conditions of each educational institution. Many secondary and high schools have decided to give students four consecutive days off, starting Saturday (August 31st), to accommodate family schedules, and then organize make-up classes in the following week.
In the 2024-2025 school year, the number of first-grade and sixth-grade students in Hanoi is expected to increase by 7,000 and 27,000 respectively compared to the previous school year.
To reduce pressure and overcrowding, especially in inner-city districts, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training is coordinating with relevant departments and agencies to re-plan the school network. At the same time, they are focusing on reviewing projects that are not up to standard or are behind schedule in order to reclaim land and convert it into school construction.
The Department has proposed renovating and repairing 123 high schools this year and in 2025. In addition, the city plans to build 16 more schools, including 7 multi-level schools. The total investment for these 139 projects is over 8,870 billion VND.
