According to the announcement of the 10th grade enrollment quota for the 2024-2025 school year by the Hanoi Departmentof Education and Training, many high schools in the inner city have reduced their enrollment quotas compared to previous school years. Statistics show that many schools in the inner city - a hot spot for 10th grade enrollment - have sharply reduced their enrollment quotas. In Ha Dong district, all three public schools, Le Quy Don High School, Quang Trung High School, and Tran Hung Dao High School, have reduced their enrollment quotas from 765 to 675. In Hoan Kiem district, Tran Phu High School's enrollment quota has decreased from 765 to 675. In Tay Ho district, Tay Ho High School's enrollment quota has decreased from 720 to 675.

It is noted that some hot schools in Hanoi have reduced their quota for grade 10 this year due to problems with facilities. Mr. Nghiem Chi Thanh - Principal of Cau Giay High School said that the quota for grade 10 is assigned by the Department of Education and Training. For schools that have reduced their quota, it may be due to a lack of facilities. The school is planning to renovate this year, so it may be the reason the Department of Education and Training is considering reducing the quota for students entering grade 10.

Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (Bac Tu Liem District) is assigned to enroll 675 students this year, a decrease of 45 students - equivalent to one class, compared to 2023. Mr. Doan Minh Chau - Principal of the school explained that this is to suit the school's physical facilities. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School has 23 classrooms, and can organize up to 46 classes in 2 morning and afternoon sessions per day. Last year, the school enrolled 720 10th grade students, equivalent to 16 classes. The remaining 2 grades have 15 classes each, so the school has made the most of the classroom capacity.

While the enrollment quota for grade 10 in public schools is reduced, many private schools in Hanoi have not yet been assigned enrollment quotas for grade 10. The list of private high schools assigned enrollment quotas for grade 10 in the 2024-2025 school year is missing many schools such as Everest, Ngoi Sao Hoang Mai...

Specifically, according to the decision to assign enrollment quotas for grade 10 to private high schools for the 2024-2025 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training assigned 88 schools to enroll 30,961 students. Compared to last year, the quota increased by more than 4,000. Many schools have higher quotas than last year, such as Ta Quang Buu Secondary and High School from 450 to 585; Vinschool Smart City Primary - Secondary - High School from 240 to 405; Lac Long Quan High School from 495 to 298.

Hanoi currently has 109 private schools, but 21 schools have not yet been assigned enrollment targets for grade 10 this year.

According to regulations of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, in the 2024-2025 school year, private high schools in the city will apply the selection method to enroll 10th grade students. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also requires all private high schools to develop plans and organize online 10th grade enrollment. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training will not assign enrollment quotas for 10th grade students if the school does not meet this requirement. At a recent conference on enrollment guidance for primary schools, Mr. Tran The Cuong - Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training emphasized that schools that do not have an online enrollment portal will not be assigned enrollment quotas. An enrollment portal that cannot be opened is not considered valid. The above requirement of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training aims to ensure transparency, fairness and objectivity in enrollment for 10th grade students in the 2024-2025 school year.
