According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training's announcement of the 2024-2025 10th grade enrollment quotas, many high schools in the inner city have reduced their quotas compared to previous years. Statistics show that many schools in the inner city – a hotspot for 10th grade enrollment – have significantly reduced their quotas. In Ha Dong district, all three public high schools – Le Quy Don High School, Quang Trung High School, and Tran Hung Dao High School – reduced their quotas from 765 to 675. In Hoan Kiem district, Tran Phu High School's quota decreased from 765 to 675. In Tay Ho district, Tay Ho High School's quota decreased from 720 to 675.

Reports indicate that some popular high schools in Hanoi have reduced their enrollment quotas for 10th grade this year due to issues related to facilities. Mr. Nghiem Chi Thanh, Principal of Cau Giay High School, stated that the 10th grade enrollment quota is set by the Department of Education and Training. Schools that have reduced their quotas may be facing problems with inadequate facilities. The school is planning renovations this year, which could be the reason the Department of Education and Training is considering reducing the enrollment quota.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School (Bac Tu Liem district) has been assigned to enroll 675 students this year, a decrease of 45 students – equivalent to one class – compared to 2023. Mr. Doan Minh Chau, the school's principal, explained that this is to better suit the school's facilities. Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School has 23 classrooms, capable of holding a maximum of 46 classes per day in both morning and afternoon sessions. Last year, the school enrolled 720 students in grade 10, equivalent to 16 classes. The other two grades each have 15 classes, so the school has maximized classroom capacity.

While public high schools are reducing their enrollment quotas for 10th grade, many private schools in Hanoi have not yet been allocated 10th-grade enrollment quotas. The list of private high schools granted 10th-grade enrollment quotas for the 2024-2025 school year is missing several schools such as Everest and Hoang Mai Star.

Specifically, according to the decision assigning enrollment quotas for 10th grade in private high schools for the 2024-2025 school year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training has allocated 30,961 students to 88 schools. Compared to the previous year, the number of quotas has increased by more than 4,000. Many schools have higher quotas than last year, such as Ta Quang Buu Secondary & High School (from 450 to 585); Vinschool Smart City Primary, Secondary & High School (from 240 to 405); and Lac Long Quan High School (from 495 to 298).

Hanoi currently has 109 private schools, but 21 of them have not yet been allocated enrollment quotas for 10th grade this year.

According to regulations from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, for the 2024-2025 school year, private high schools in the city will apply an online admissions process for 10th grade enrollment. The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also requires all private high schools to develop and organize online 10th grade enrollment plans. The Department will not allocate 10th grade enrollment quotas if a school does not meet this requirement. At a recent orientation conference on enrollment at the beginning of the school year, Mr. Tran The Cuong, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, emphasized that schools without an online enrollment portal will not be allocated enrollment quotas. An enrollment portal that is not operational will also be considered invalid. This requirement from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and objectivity in 10th grade high school enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year.

The announcement of enrollment quotas for private schools, using the method of admission based on academic transcripts, is also an important source of information to help students and parents research and choose appropriate schools for the 10th grade entrance exam in the 2024-2025 school year in the city.
