The conference introduced a model for using microbial preparations to treat odors in livestock barns and produce organic fertilizer.

On December 12, 2025, the Center for Information and Application of Science and Technology (the Center), in coordination with relevant units, organized a field conference to introduce the model of "Using PYMIC microbial products to deodorize livestock barns and produce organic fertilizer on a household scale" to 60 people in Tuy An Nam and Son Hoa communes. Mr. Nguyen Trong Luc, Deputy Director of the Center, chaired the conference.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Luc, Deputy Director of the Center for Information and Application of Science and Technology, delivered a speech at the conference.

Dak Lak is currently a key agricultural province in the Central Highlands and South Central regions, with a huge demand for fertilizers. However, the amount of livestock waste generated is increasing, especially given the prevalence of small-scale farming. Improper collection and treatment methods are causing environmental pollution and affecting public health.

Mr. Nguyen Trong Luc, Deputy Director of the Center for Information and Application of Science and Technology, stated: The PYMIC microbial product application model is the result of a research project by the Center. The use of PYMIC biological products to treat mushroom waste, deodorize livestock barns, and produce organic fertilizer on a household scale meets local practical needs, aligns with the trend of developing ecological agriculture, circular economy , and the strategy of reducing rural environmental pollution.

MSc. Truong Hung My reports on the results of implementing the model.

According to the report by the project leader – MSc. Truong Hung My, in 2025, the Center coordinated with the Farmers' Association and local authorities to select 12 cattle and pig farming households to implement the model. These households received support in the form of PYMIC powder and liquid fertilizer, molasses, partial funding for purchasing sprayers and composting tarpaulins, and detailed guidance on technical procedures.

Representatives of the participating farmers spoke at the conference.

After 3 months of implementation (October 2025 - December 2025), participating households recorded positive results: Odor in livestock barns significantly reduced after 1-2 sprayings, and flies and mosquitoes decreased noticeably. Composting time was shortened from 2-4 months to 1-1.5 months. The composted manure was loose, odorless, and had a beautiful dark brown color, increasing the usability of cow manure as organic fertilizer for crops, raising the price of cow manure from 3,000 VND/kg to 5,000 VND/kg…

At the conference, many households shared the positive results of the model. Mr. Nguyen Minh Vu (Tuy An Nam commune) excitedly said: "My family raises 5 cows. Before, the smell was very unpleasant, especially during the dry season. Since using PYMIC, after just a few sprays, the smell has significantly reduced, there are fewer flies, and the barn is cleaner. Composting with PYMIC microbial product, I have organic fertilizer to use for my plants in about a month. I hope to continue receiving support with the product to maintain this model long-term."

Visiting and providing practical guidance at farms that have implemented the model.

Following the conference, delegates visited individual households to observe the model, listen to and exchange experiences during its implementation. This provided an opportunity for the locality to access sustainable environmental treatment solutions and consider replicating the model in the future.
