
Comrade Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Department, presented commemorative flags and flowers to the participating folk culture delegations at the competition.
Thirteen folk culture troupes from 13 districts, cities, and towns in the province participated in the competition. The artisans from these troupes competed in the following events: wrapping 5kg of glutinous rice, 1kg of mung beans, and 1kg of pork into 10 square banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) within a maximum of 8 minutes, and boiling the cakes for 5 hours; cooking 5kg of glutinous rice into sticky rice within a maximum of 30 minutes; and pounding and shaping 10 banh giay (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) within a maximum of 15 minutes.

The competition aims to recreate the ritual of making offerings to ancestors dating back to the time of King Hung's founding of the nation, while simultaneously honoring the traditional cultural values of the nation, arousing pride in history, expressing filial piety to ancestors, and fostering the spirit of unity, mutual support, and compassion within the community. Through this, it contributes to the preservation and promotion of the unique values of the cultural heritage of the Hung Dynasty and the Hung King worshiping belief in Phu Tho .

The competition included wrapping and cooking banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) by the participating cultural and folk art troupes.

At the conclusion of the competition, in the category of wrapping and cooking banh chung (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes), the Organizing Committee awarded first prize to the Viet Tri City Folk Culture Delegation; three second prizes to the Folk Culture Delegations of Lam Thao, Cam Khe, and Phu Tho districts; and nine third prizes to the following nine Folk Culture Delegations: Thanh Son, Tan Son, Tam Nong, Thanh Thuy, Doan Hung, Ha Hoa, Phu Ninh, Thanh Ba, and Yen Lap. In the category of pounding banh giay (another type of Vietnamese rice cake), first prize went to the Yen Lap District Folk Culture Delegation; three second prizes went to the Thanh Ba, Ha Hoa, and Tam Nong Folk Culture Delegations; and nine third prizes went to the Cam Khe, Doan Hung, Lam Thao, Phu Ninh, Tan Son, Thanh Son, Thanh Thuy, Viet Tri City, and Phu Tho town Folk Culture Delegations.

Through this competition, the Organizing Committee will select the first-prize winning banh chung and banh giay (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes) to offer to King Hung during the Hung King Commemoration Day - Hung Temple Festival in 2025.
