On the afternoon of July 30th, in Pleiku ward (Gia Lai province), the Ministry of Public Security held a program to summarize the "Eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" movement in the Central Highlands provinces in 2025.
From the beginning of 2025 to the present, the Ministry of Public Security has supported the construction, repair, and renovation of 6,370 houses for poor and near-poor households in Gia Lai, Lam Dong (formerly part of Dak Nong province), and Quang Ngai (formerly part of Kon Tum province), with a total budget of 355 billion VND. The program not only helps thousands of families have stable housing but also lays a solid foundation for them to settle down, develop their livelihoods, and contribute to the long-term stability of the Central Highlands region.
Beyond financial support, officers and soldiers of the Gia Lai Provincial Police also directly contributed two days' worth of salary, equivalent to over 5.4 billion VND, to the program. Simultaneously, they effectively mobilized social resources, attracting an additional 2.7 billion VND and thousands of tons of construction materials; over 2,000 man-days of labor from the police force were also mobilized to directly assist in building houses and roofing for the local people. These spacious houses, built amidst remote villages, not only provide safe havens for the people but also serve as a vivid symbol of the "close to the people, for the people" spirit of the People's Police force.

Speaking at the conference, Lieutenant General Pham The Tung, Deputy Minister of Public Security, commended the sense of responsibility, effort, creativity, and practical results achieved by agencies and units in implementing the movement to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses. The Lieutenant General expressed his deep gratitude to the businesses and individuals who have supported the program and hoped that businesses would continue to work together with the local authorities to develop socio-economic conditions and contribute to ensuring social security in the Central Highlands provinces in particular, and the whole country in general.
Lieutenant General Pham The Tung shared that, in recent times, the Ministry of Public Security has mobilized resources and coordinated with localities to complete the construction, renovation, and repair of tens of thousands of houses, along with many boarding schools and hospitals nationwide, with a total cost of nearly 2,000 billion VND.
In 2025, in response to the nationwide emulation movement "Joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses," the Ministry of Public Security mobilized the entire force to raise 362 billion VND and also mobilized 373 billion VND from social resources to support the elimination of over 10,000 temporary and dilapidated houses in many localities, with particular attention paid to supporting the elimination of thousands of temporary and dilapidated houses for ethnic minorities in the Central Highlands with a budget of 345 billion VND.
According to the Senior General, in the Central Highlands region, with high political determination, great efforts, a sense of urgency, and the concerted efforts of the People's Public Security Force, the People's Army, the local political system, and sponsors—with the core being the Public Security and the Vietnam Fatherland Front of Gia Lai, Lam Dong, and Kon Tum (now Quang Ngai) provinces, and all the people—thousands of houses have been completed and put into use before the rainy season. This is a very practical and meaningful result on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the People's Public Security Force, the 20th anniversary of the National Day for Protecting National Security, the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution, and National Day on September 2nd.
General Pham The Tung shared that with new, stable, and sturdy housing, the families will feel secure in their work and production, continuing to uphold the spirit of national unity, the revolutionary traditions of the locality and the heroic Central Highlands region, actively participating in ensuring security and order at the grassroots level and building a solid people's security posture, contributing to the successful implementation of the strategic policies of the Party and the State.
Also at the program, Lieutenant General Pham The Tung requested central and local agencies, departments, and called on sponsors and benevolent organizations to stand side-by-side with the People's Public Security force with the spirit of accompanying, moving quickly, and accompanying for the well-being and happiness of the people, contributing to the effective implementation of the Party and State's social security policies, strongly responding to the movement "The whole country joins hands for the poor - No one is left behind," leading the country to confidently move into a new era, an era of national progress.
Recognizing outstanding contributions during the "Joining Hands to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses" emulation campaign, the Minister of Public Security signed a decision to award certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 12 individuals from Gia Lai province; 2 collectives and 6 individuals from Lam Dong province; and 3 collectives and 8 individuals from Quang Ngai province.
