At the press conference, representatives from the Provincial Statistics Department announced some basic information regarding the socio-economic situation in 2023.

Accordingly, 2023 was a very important year in implementing the Resolution of the 22nd Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council on the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025. The Provincial People's Committee decisively directed and implemented tasks and solutions to overcome difficulties, focusing on maintaining production and business, and enhancing economic growth. As a result, the province's socio-economic situation in 2023 achieved positive and comprehensive results, basically meeting the overall objectives set.

Specifically: The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of the entire province (at 2010 constant prices) is estimated at VND 53,389.8 billion, an increase of 7.27% compared to 2022. Of which: Value added in Sector I (agriculture, forestry and fisheries) is estimated at VND 4,693.9 billion, an increase of 2.86%, contributing 0.26 percentage points; Sector II ( industry and construction ) is estimated at VND 18,969.3 billion, an increase of 2.95%, contributing 1.09 percentage points (industry alone is estimated at VND 14,404.8 billion, an increase of 1.51%, contributing 0.43 percentage points); Sector III (services) is estimated at VND 20,402.2 billion, an increase of 13.23%, contributing 4.79 percentage points; Product taxes less product subsidies totaled VND 9,324.4 billion, an increase of 6.38%, contributing 1.13 percentage points.

The economic structure continues to shift towards reducing the proportion of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, and increasing the proportion of the service sector. The service sector is gradually becoming a strength of the province as tourism receives attention and investment, developing it into a key economic sector.

Total budget revenue in the province (excluding VAT refunds) in 2023 is estimated at VND 16,431 billion, reaching 73.4% of the provincial People's Council's projected target and decreasing by 32.3% compared to 2022. Of this: Domestic revenue is estimated at VND 13,556 billion (accounting for 82.5% of total revenue), reaching 75.1% of the annual target; revenue from import and export activities is estimated at VND 2,875 billion (accounting for 17.5% of total revenue), reaching 66.4% of the target.

Total local government budget expenditure for 2023 is estimated at VND 16,112.2 billion, reaching 91% of the projected budget, a decrease of 0.8% compared to 2022.

Total investment for development in the entire province in 2023 is estimated at 32,155.8 billion VND, an increase of 7.5% compared to 2022.

In 2023, erratic weather patterns affected crop growth and development, coupled with high input material prices and low livestock product prices. However, various levels of government, sectors, and localities in the province implemented numerous solutions, leading to significant achievements in agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production.

Total grain production in 2023 is estimated at 455.6 thousand tons, a decrease of 0.2% (-0.7 thousand tons) compared to 2022 and reaching 102.9% of the 2023 plan. Total output of live meat for slaughter in 2023 is estimated at 66.5 thousand tons, an increase of 5.7% (+3.6 thousand tons) compared to 2022 and reaching 111.4% of the plan. Preliminary area of ​​newly planted forests reached 315 hectares, an increase of 64.1% (+123 hectares) compared to 2022. Aquaculture production in 2023 is estimated at 69.3 thousand tons, an increase of 5.5% (+3.6 thousand tons).

The work of building new rural areas, advanced new rural areas, and model new rural areas continues to achieve positive and comprehensive results, exceeding the set targets.

Overall, trade and service activities were vibrant, with retail sales of goods and services increasing. Exports remained at the same level as in previous years, while imports faced more difficulties.

Passenger and freight transport activities have recovered positively, achieving high growth rates.

In 2023, with policies and orientations prioritizing tourism development, tourism business activities in the province continued to flourish and develop strongly. The total number of visitors to tourist attractions in the province was estimated at 6,598.3 thousand, an increase of 77.7% compared to 2022 and exceeding the annual plan by 23.3%. The total number of visitors to accommodation establishments was estimated at 1,368.8 thousand, an increase of 58.1%, reaching 94% of the annual plan; the number of visitor nights was estimated at 1,881.7 thousand, an increase of 54.8%. Tourism revenue was estimated at nearly 6,516.3 billion VND, exceeding the annual plan by 26.5%.

During the year, the province provided employment for 20,500 workers; organized vocational training for 17,600 workers; provided job counseling and placement services for 35,600 workers; processed unemployment insurance benefits for 6,100 workers; and provided preferential loans for job creation to 9,000 workers.

Social welfare and poverty reduction efforts have always been prioritized; the quality of medical examination and treatment has improved; and the quality of education has been ensured and enhanced. Cultural and sports activities are rich and diverse. In addition, social order and security in the province have been maintained.

During the press conference, the Provincial Statistics Department took time to answer questions from reporters, journalists, and delegates regarding issues related to the socio-economic situation in 2023.
