As airfares increase, many people turn to cars to return home or travel during Tet, leading to an increased need to "beautify" this vehicle.

Car beauty services are bustling

Mr. Thanh Long, owner of a shop right at the foot of Binh Trieu Bridge (Thu Duc City), said that in the days before Tet, the number of cars coming to the shop increased compared to normal days, an average of 30 - 60 cars/day.

Most customers say that when driving long distances such as going on vacation or driving home, they should pay attention to changing tires and adjusting the steering wheel. In addition, applying heat-insulating film, beautifying the car, adding accessories... are being chosen by many customers.

Mr. Nguyen Quang (40 years old, living in Thu Duc City) said that this year he decided to drive to Da Nang instead of taking a plane.

In addition to the reason of high airfare, Mr. Quang wanted to take his family of four home to celebrate Tet by car for convenience of travel. Near Tet, he visited a car repair shop, had his car painted, and added accessories such as Vietmap, dash cam... at a cost of more than 8 million VND.

"Even though I have to wait in line for a long time, I still want my car to look new and clean during Tet. When traveling long distances, I should have cameras to warn me about fines, speeding... for peace of mind," said Mr. Quang.

Prices increased sharply

According to records, the price of car refurbishment services increased from 10 - 20% compared to normal days. Mr. Tran Hien, representative of MT car care shop (Go Vap district), said that because he hired seasonal workers with salaries 1.5 - 2 times higher.

However, some shops still keep their prices to maintain regular customers. Popular items such as ceramic coating cost from 4.5 to 6.5 million VND, paint surface correction from 1.7 to 2.5 million VND, glass stain removal from 600,000 VND to 1 million VND.

Minh Tien, owner of a car tuning shop in Binh Thanh district, said the number of customers upgrading accessories such as subwoofers, head-up display screens and electric trunks has increased significantly. The cost for these services ranges from a few million to more than 10 million VND.

Car owners are advised to choose a reputable garage that clearly shows the items that need to be done to avoid the risk of being "drawn up" or tricked into installing unnecessary accessories.

According to car dealers, to avoid being "ripped off" or "ripped off" during maintenance and refurbishment, car owners should determine in advance what items they need to do.

This is to limit the situation where consultants at the garage "draw" out items, intentionally give wrong advice, and entice customers to install and upgrade unnecessary accessories and spare parts.
