Hung Yen welcomes new wave of cooperation from Thailand

The business forum “Thailand Connection in Hung Yen 2025” on July 16 opened up many investment cooperation opportunities between Hung Yen province and Thai enterprises.

The event was organized by Hung Yen province in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Vietnam, opening a series of economic cooperation activities after the two countries officially upgraded their relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025.

In her opening speech, Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam, emphasized that the forum is not only a vivid manifestation of the friendly and trusting relationship between the two countries, but also opens up specific opportunities for businesses from both sides to share ideas, build business networks and develop together sustainably.

The Ambassador highly appreciated the development potential of Hung Yen province in the fields of industry, agriculture and quality human resources. She hoped that through the forum, many new cooperation projects would be launched, contributing to creating practical value for both the Thai and Vietnamese economies .

Affirming the position of Hung Yen in the development picture of the Red River Delta region, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, stated: Located in the key economic region of the North, adjacent to the capital Hanoi and on inter-regional economic corridors such as Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Hung Yen fully converges the factors of strategic geographical location, synchronous traffic infrastructure, and open investment environment.

To date, the province has 886 valid FDI projects, with a total registered capital of over 16.02 billion USD. Of these, Thai enterprises have invested in 10 projects, with a total registered capital of 174.4 million USD, employing about 2,200 workers.

The leaders of Hung Yen province emphasized that the local government is always committed to working with businesses, focusing on improving the investment environment through the motto "3 through": open institutions, smooth infrastructure, smart governance. The province is also implementing many administrative innovation solutions, improving the efficiency of serving people and businesses, and at the same time inviting Thai investors to expand their presence in Hung Yen in areas such as: high-tech industry, logistics, clean agriculture, cultural and ecological tourism.

Delegates discuss at the Forum

At the discussion session on “Connecting supply chains between Thailand and Vietnam”, Vice Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Le Huy and representatives of WHA Industrial Development PLC (Thailand) and Hanoi Logistics Association discussed specific cooperation opportunities between enterprises and introduced the province's preferential investment policies.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Hung Yen is gradually affirming its role as a strategic industrial - agricultural - logistics center of the Red River Delta. The province's industrial park infrastructure is increasingly modern, synchronous, and environmentally friendly; the logistics network is expanding rapidly thanks to its location advantage, road system, and inland port development planning according to the Land - Water Port Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. It is expected that by 2030, the output of goods through the logistics system in the province will reach 6.8 - 7.85 million tons/year.

Currently, Hung Yen has planned to develop 43 industrial parks with a total area of over 13,500 hectares (of which 18 have been established), the clean land area ready for investors is about 600 hectares, meeting all requirements on scale, field and technology.

The forum left many good impressions, opening up specific opportunities to strengthen the connection between Hung Yen and Thai enterprises. On behalf of the provincial leaders, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia sent a sincere invitation to Thai enterprises, affirming: "Hung Yen always accompanies investors with the spirit: once said, it must be done, once committed, it must be implemented; valuing time, intelligence and timely decisiveness".

From the existing cooperation foundations and specific commitments, Hung Yen is affirming itself as a safe, effective and sustainable investment destination, not only for Thai enterprises but also for the international business community in general.
