Hung Yen welcomes new wave of cooperation from Thailand

The business forum “Thailand Connection in Hung Yen 2025” on July 16 opened up many investment cooperation opportunities between Hung Yen province and Thai enterprises.

The event, organized by Hung Yen province in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Vietnam, marks the beginning of a series of economic cooperation activities after the two countries officially upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in May 2025.

In her opening remarks, Ms. Urawadee Sriphiromya, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Thailand to Vietnam, emphasized that the forum is not only a vivid expression of the friendly and trusting relationship between the two countries, but also opens up concrete opportunities for businesses from both sides to share ideas, build business networks, and develop sustainably together.

Nguyen Huu Nghia, member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, delivered a speech at the Forum.

The Ambassador highly appreciated Hung Yen province's development potential in the fields of industry, agriculture, and high-quality human resources. She hoped that, through the forum, many new cooperation projects would be launched, contributing to creating practical value for both the Thai and Vietnamese economies .

Affirming Hung Yen's position in the development landscape of the Red River Delta region, Mr. Nguyen Huu Nghia, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Secretary of the Hung Yen Provincial Party Committee, stated: Located in the key economic zone of Northern Vietnam, bordering the capital Hanoi and situated on inter-regional economic corridors such as Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong, Hung Yen possesses all the necessary elements of a strategic geographical location, synchronized transportation infrastructure, and a favorable investment environment.

To date, the province has 886 active FDI projects, with a total registered capital of over US$16.02 billion. Of these, Thai businesses have invested in 10 projects, with a total registered capital of US$174.4 million, employing approximately 2,200 workers.

The leaders of Hung Yen province emphasized that the local government is always committed to working alongside businesses, focusing on improving the investment environment through the "three-pronged approach": transparent institutions, smooth infrastructure, and smart governance. The province is also implementing many administrative reform solutions to improve the efficiency of services for people and businesses, while inviting Thai investors to expand their presence in Hung Yen in fields such as high-tech industry, logistics, clean agriculture, and cultural-ecological tourism.

At the thematic discussion session "Connecting Supply Chains between Thailand and Vietnam," Vice Chairman of Hung Yen Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Le Huy, along with representatives from WHA Industrial Development PLC (Thailand) and the Hanoi Logistics Association, exchanged views on specific cooperation opportunities between businesses and introduced the province's investment incentive policies.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Hung Yen is gradually asserting its role as a strategic industrial, agricultural, and logistics center of the Red River Delta region. The province's industrial park infrastructure is becoming increasingly modern, synchronized, and environmentally friendly; the logistics network is expanding rapidly thanks to its advantageous location, road network, and the development plan for inland ports according to the Land and Water Port Area Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. It is projected that by 2030, the volume of goods handled through the province's logistics system will reach 6.8 - 7.85 million tons per year.

Currently, Hung Yen has planned the development of 43 industrial zones with a total area of ​​over 13,500 hectares (of which 18 have been established), with approximately 600 hectares of cleared land ready for investors, meeting all requirements in terms of scale, sector, and technology.

The forum left many positive impressions, opening up concrete opportunities to strengthen connections between businesses in Hung Yen and Thailand. On behalf of the provincial leadership, Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Huu Nghia extended a sincere invitation to Thai businesses, affirming: "Hung Yen always stands alongside investors with the spirit of: what is said must be done, commitments must be fulfilled; valuing time, intelligence, and timely decisiveness."

Building on existing cooperation foundations and concrete action commitments, Hung Yen is asserting itself as a safe, efficient, and sustainable investment destination, not only for Thai businesses but for the international business community in general.
