Forming inter-regional value chains after provincial mergers

On the evening of December 3, 2025, the Department of Industry and Trade of Ninh Binh province held the opening ceremony of the Northern Industry and Trade Fair - Ninh Binh 2025, an event within the National Industrial Promotion Program, taking place from December 3 to 9, 2025 at Dong Van Stadium, Dong Van ward.

The fair has practical significance in terms of economy, politics and society, contributing to promoting economic and trade cooperation in the region, expanding trade between localities across the country, and strengthening links with international partners in the context of deep economic integration today.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Pham Hong Son, Director of Ninh Binh Department of Industry and Trade - Head of the Fair Organizing Committee said: After the administrative boundary merger, Ninh Binh province is transforming strongly, entering a new development phase with a new scale and a new vision. With an area of ​​nearly 4,000 km2 and a population of more than 4.4 million people, Ninh Binh is currently one of the largest provinces in the country.

The strategic geographical location between the capital Hanoi and the North Central region becomes a big plus when connected by the North-South expressway, the national railway, the Red River and the coastal corridor. These factors help the province connect conveniently with major economic centers such as Hanoi, Hai Phong, Thanh Hoa, and at the same time create the premise for the formation of an effective inter-regional value chain.

What makes the new Ninh Binh province special is the fusion of unique cultural and historical spaces that have opened up unlimited space for developing heritage tourism, cultural industry and creative economy.

“Not only continuing to affirm its role as a key national cultural and tourism center, Ninh Binh has also risen to become a strategic destination in attracting investment, demonstrated through a series of movements in organizing development space, institutional reform and synchronous promotion of trade, tourism and investment,” Mr. Pham Hong Son emphasized.

According to Mr. Pham Hong Son, along with the general development of the locality, the industrial promotion program of Ninh Binh province has had a strong influence on rural areas, contributing to the transformation of economic and labor structures, and the implementation of the construction of new rural models.

In 2025, Ninh Binh province approved 52 industrial promotion projects with a total support budget of VND 10,843 million, focusing on supporting enterprises and rural industrial establishments to invest in machinery and apply high technology to boost production and business; participate in domestic fair booths to promote and connect product consumption.

“Industrial promotion activities have brought about practical results, helping many rural industrial establishments increase productivity, improve product quality, reduce costs, thereby expanding production scale and consumption markets. In addition, the program also contributes to encouraging the spirit of innovation and creativity in production, promoting the potential and advantages of each locality,” the Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ninh Binh shared.

Product promotion and trade promotion opportunities

At the opening ceremony of the Northern Industry and Trade Fair - Ninh Binh 2025 , Mr. Pham Hong Son said that this is a meaningful activity, concretizing the policies and solutions for industrial and commercial development of the province.

At the same time, this is also an opportunity for businesses, cooperatives and production facilities to meet, exchange, promote trade, expand investment cooperation and link product supply chains between regions and areas across the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the fair, Ms. Do Thi Minh Tram - Deputy Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) said that the Northern Industry and Trade Fair - Ninh Binh 2025 is considered an effective bridge for organizations and individuals to exchange experiences; promote the brands of typical rural industrial products, establish production and business relationships, expand the market; and at the same time, it is also an opportunity to learn about the cultural and historical traditions of Ninh Binh province.

The fair attracted 200 participating units with 250 booths.

The Organizing Committee of the Northern Industry and Trade Fair - Ninh Binh 2025 said that the fair has a scale of 250 booths, gathering 200 participating units, enterprises, cooperatives and organizations and individuals; of which 50 booths belong to units, enterprises and cooperatives of Ninh Binh province.

Many events will be held throughout the fair such as: Exchange activities, goods exchange and signing of economic contracts; organizing music and dance performances to attract visitors and shoppers...

Through this Fair, Ninh Binh hopes that local products, local products, typical rural industrial products of Ninh Binh will be closer to consumers nationwide and typical products of other localities will regularly appear on the market of Ninh Binh province.
