Opening Ceremony of the Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival in Quang Tri 2024

(NADS) - On the evening of December 14th, in Quang Tri, the 2024 Festival of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures officially opened in an atmosphere of excitement and solidarity. The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, with the participation of 16 provinces and cities representing various regions across the country.
Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy attended and delivered the opening speech, emphasizing the important significance of the Festival in preserving and promoting the cultural values of ethnic groups, while affirming the positive contributions of ethnic groups in building and protecting the country. Celebrating Diverse Cultural Identity: The festival, themed “Preserving and Promoting the Cultural Identity of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups: Equality, Solidarity, Respect, Integration, and Development for a Peaceful World,” is an opportunity to honor the cultural beauty of the 54 ethnic groups, from traditional rituals and festivals, ethnic costumes, to distinctive cuisine and folk performing arts. Highlights include: folk art festivals, traditional costume performances, introductions to traditional festivals and beliefs, exhibitions of distinctive local cultures, as well as folk games and sports competitions. In particular, the event also promotes the cultural beauty of ethnic minorities in Quang Tri , home to the Bru-Van Kieu and Ta Oi (Pa Co) ethnic groups, with their traditional dances and folk songs such as caloi and chachap, along with the Ariêuping festival and the new rice harvest celebration. Quang Tri - A Land Rich in Tradition. Speaking at the opening ceremony, the leaders of Quang Tri province emphasized the role of culture in the local development. From a heroic land that suffered greatly during the war, Quang Tri today has strongly revived, with the important contributions of its ethnic communities. The province also allocates significant resources to socio -economic development programs for ethnic minority and mountainous areas, linked to cultural preservation and tourism development. The festival is an opportunity for Quang Tri to showcase its unique cultural tourism products, while promoting cultural exchange between ethnic groups within the country and internationally. Spreading the message of peace and development, the opening ceremony was not only a gathering of artisans, performers, and athletes, but also conveyed a message of solidarity, equality, and integration. Through this, the younger generation was reminded of their responsibility to preserve and promote precious cultural values, contributing to building a sustainable and globally integrated Vietnam. Concluding her speech, Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy expressed her gratitude to the ministries, departments, localities, and people who contributed to the success of the festival. She also expressed her hope that the event would contribute to the cultural, economic, and tourism development of Quang Tri province, bringing the image of Vietnam closer to international friends. The Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures Festival in Quang Tri will take place from December 14th to 16th, 2024, promising many interesting and meaningful experiences.
