History books recorded that after the great victory in the Spring of Ky Dau 1789, Emperor Quang Trung chose the land between Dung Quyet and Ky Lan mountains to establish the capital for the new dynasty. The king recruited many workers, transported wood, stone, bricks and tiles to build the palace, built the surrounding earthen wall and ordered soldiers to dig local laterite to build the inner and outer walls and Thai Hoa Palace - where Emperor Quang Trung held court, named Phuong Hoang Trung Do.
