Inauguration of the first professional automobile engine manufacturing and production plant in Vietnam

(Chinhphu.vn) - On the morning of December 5, in Chan May-Lang Co commune, Hue city, Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company held the inauguration ceremony of the Yuchai engine manufacturing and production factory and shipped the first Yuchai engine - marking a historical milestone in the process of realizing the strategy of mastering core technology in the engine manufacturing industry in Vietnam.

Capacity of more than 40,000 engines/year, equivalent to only 3 minutes/1 engine

This is the first factory in Vietnam to own a modern production line capable of manufacturing and producing engines that meet international standards to serve not only the automotive industry but also other important industries.

Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company said that the Yuchai engine manufacturing and production factory was inaugurated on August 23, 2024, right after the signing ceremony of comprehensive strategic cooperation between Kim Long Motor and Yuchai Group - the world's leading engine manufacturer. After just over 12 months of rapid construction with a high spirit of determination, the modern and synchronous factory system was completed, successfully tested and officially launched the first engine product.

Yuchai Engine Manufacturing and Production Plant is built on an area of ​​6.5 hectares, with an initial investment capital of 260 million USD. Modern, synchronous technology lines with an automation level of up to 90% allow the factory to have a diverse production capacity with engine lines such as: automobile engines, marine engines, agricultural machinery, generators...

In the first phase, the factory has completed 2.5 hectares focusing on manufacturing and assembling internal combustion engines (Diesel) with a capacity of more than 40,000 engines/year, equivalent to only taking 3 minutes/1 engine.

The factory applies the most modern technology series, optimizing and precise each production stage. The entire production line operates on the Smart Factory platform with a digitalization level of up to 90%, allowing 100% retrieval of technical data according to each engine code.

In phase 2, Kim Long Motor and Yuchai Group will continue to invest in the automated production line system to process core engine components such as: engine body, engine cover, crankshaft, camshaft, connecting rod... and localize support components, connecting brackets such as gas distribution system, power generation, lubrication - cooling, transmission.

Along with that, Kim Long Motor will put into operation the production and manufacturing plant with modern forging and stamping lines, thereby improving production capacity and increasing the localization rate of engines up to 80%. The synchronous operation of the Yuchai engine production and manufacturing plant and the system of supporting industrial factories will create a strong breakthrough in the production and manufacturing capacity of the domestic auto industry.

This event marks a great development step of the Vietnamese automobile industry when Kim Long Motor successfully cooperated in producing and manufacturing engines right in Vietnam. The technological chain system at the Yuchai Engine Manufacturing and Manufacturing Factory was directly transferred by Yuchai Group and supervised by a team of international experts and experienced engineers, ensuring synchronization and optimal performance.

The production process strictly adheres to international standards, creating a solid foundation for product quality. From here, the engine lines produced by the factory not only meet domestic demand but also aim to export to ASEAN, Korean and Middle East markets.

The first two engine products were manufactured in Hue.

At the event, the first two engine products, Yuchai K11 and Yuchai Y24, were completed and officially shipped. This is also an important step in the journey of mastering technology, aiming to realize the goal of bringing "Made in Vietnam" cars to international standards and further on the journey of global integration.

In addition, the factory will continue to expand its product portfolio, putting into production new engine lines such as Yuchai A07N, Yuchai S04, Yuchai S07 and Yuchai K12L to serve Kim Long Motor's commercial vehicle production and assembly activities.

The first engine launch ceremony at Yuchai Engine Manufacturing and Production Plant is not only an important milestone affirming Kim Long Motor's production capacity and mastery of core technology, but also contributing to promoting the development of the Vietnamese mechanical and automobile industry.

At the ceremony, Mr. Dao Viet Anh, General Director of Kim Long Motor shared: "The synchronous operation of the Yuchai Engine Manufacturing and Production Factory with the large-scale stamping factory and the system of supporting industrial factories will create a strong breakthrough in domestic industrial production and manufacturing capacity. Not only improving the scientific and technical content and autonomy in production, this industrial complex is the key to realizing the goal of achieving an engine localization rate of up to 80%.

Thereby, turning Kim Long Motor Hue Automobile Manufacturing and Assembly Industrial Park into the leading automobile manufacturing center in Southeast Asia. When all factories in the Industrial Park come into operation, it will create a strong driving force to promote local socio-economic development, bringing tens of thousands of stable jobs, contributing to the formation of a modern and dynamic industrial ecosystem in the land of the Ancient Capital.

An important turning point for Vietnam's auto industry

Speaking at the inauguration and commissioning ceremony of the Engine Factory in Hue, Mr. Ly Han Duong, Chairman of Yuchai Group, emphasized that this is an important activity, a milestone in the cooperation between Chinese and Vietnamese enterprises in the field of high-end equipment manufacturing. "The official completion and commissioning of the factory today is extremely important because this is the first professional automobile engine factory in Vietnam, a strategic fulcrum to enhance the position and brand value of King Long Motors and Yuchai in Vietnam and the entire ASEAN market," said the Chairman of Yuchai Group.

Congratulating Kim Long Motor Hue Joint Stock Company on completing the investment in the Yuchai engine manufacturing and assembly plant under the Kim Long Motors Hue Production and Assembly Complex project, Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee Phan Quy Phuong affirmed that this event marks an important turning point not only for Kim Long Motor but also for the Vietnamese automobile industry, aiming to realize the Vietnam Automobile Industry Development Strategy approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1168/QD-TTg dated July 16, 2014.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, the Kim Long Motors Hue Production and Assembly Complex is a key project of Hue City that will actively contribute to the development of the automobile industry, creating a spillover effect to attract investment from the auto support industry in the city, contributing to the economic restructuring, increasing budget revenue and creating jobs for local workers.

To speed up the progress of the entire Kim Long Motors Hue Production and Assembly Complex Project, in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee requested investors with a high sense of responsibility, to focus resources on implementing the construction and completion of the entire project to put it into operation according to the goals and progress approved in the investment policy.

"On the local side, we commit to directing relevant departments, branches and localities to actively support and create the most favorable conditions for the investor to implement the project; first of all, we will count and clear the ground for the remaining 200 hectares of land so that the entire project can soon come into operation, making a positive contribution to the local socio-economic development," said the Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee.

The new generation Yuchai K11 engine line is currently equipped on Kimlong 99 sleeper and seat buses, with powerful operation and outstanding fuel efficiency, consuming only 19-22 liters/100km.

The Yuchai Y24 engine has a cylinder capacity of 2,360 (cc) and a capacity of 110Ps, optimal for flexible, powerful, and fuel-efficient transportation, thereby laying the foundation for the upcoming Kim Long brand light truck line.
