TPO - A section of Huynh Van Luy road ( Binh Duong province ) still lacks sidewalks, streetlights, and median strips. Investment in upgrading the road began in late 2020, but it remains in a state of disarray. This slow-moving project is causing hardship for residents in the area.
On the morning of March 16th, a reporter from Tien Phong newspaper observed that Huynh Van Luy road, from the Binh Duong New City roundabout to the intersection with Tran Ngoc Len road (Phu My ward, Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province), was barricaded and construction machinery was underway. |
Huynh Van Luy Street, from its junction with National Highway 13 to the Binh Duong New City roundabout, is approximately 7km long. Of this, about 2km, from the intersection with Tran Ngoc Len Street to the roundabout, still lacks a median strip, sidewalks, and streetlights. |
At the end of 2020, this road section received investment for upgrading, with construction officially beginning on items such as the rainwater drainage system, sidewalks, trees, and lighting. To date, more than three years later, the construction site remains unfinished, and the construction unit continuously erects barriers on Huynh Van Luy road to ensure safety. |
This project is being constructed by Dai Phong Infrastructure Construction Joint Stock Company, with a total investment of 109 billion VND. According to the initial plan, the completion time for the entire route was 10 months. Subsequently, the construction unit repeatedly requested extensions (3 times), but to date, the progress has only reached approximately 65%. |
According to the construction company's representative, the reason the project cannot be completed yet is due to difficulties in land clearance. To date, only about 66% of the land along the entire route has been cleared. Currently, the project is still facing obstacles from some households that have not yet handed over their land because they have not agreed on the compensation rates. |
While authorities are struggling to find a solution to hand over the land, residents living along the road who have already handed over their land are suffering because the construction project remains unfinished. |
“The unfinished construction project, which has lasted for a long time, has greatly affected the lives of people in the area. The road in front of our houses is being dug up, but construction is slow, making it very difficult to get in and out of our homes,” said Mr. Tuan, a resident living along Huynh Van Luy Street (Phu My Ward, Thu Dau Mot City). |
Along this approximately 2km stretch of road under construction, hundreds of businesses, both large and small, are being significantly impacted. |
Mr. Sang, the owner of a roadside eatery on Huynh Van Luy Street, where construction is underway, said: “Because the road is under construction, access to the restaurant is difficult and dusty, so customers are hesitant to come. Since the business has been operating for a long time and we've been waiting for the road to be completed, we're still holding out. It's not just me; residents in the affected area hope the authorities will expedite the project and complete it soon.” |
According to a reporter from Tien Phong newspaper, Huynh Van Luy road connects National Highway 13 to the Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center (Binh Duong New City) and goes straight to Bac Tan Uyen and Phu Giao districts. This route is also chosen by many people when traveling to Binh Phuoc province, therefore the traffic volume is high. The fact that half of the road is barricaded and construction is prolonged not only affects local residents but also people and vehicles participating in traffic. |
