Vietnam's agricultural extension experience, honed over decades of food security and agricultural development strategies, is now considered a model of excellence. From a nation plagued by post-war famine, Vietnam has transformed into a leading global exporter of agricultural products. This success owes a great deal to Vietnam's agricultural extension system.
Today, Vietnam's agricultural extension model not only serves the domestic market but is also expanding internationally, becoming a prime example of South-South cooperation, particularly in supporting developing countries, including African nations like Angola.

Mr. Le Quoc Thanh, Director of the National Agricultural Extension Center, stated: "Vietnamese agricultural extension not only teaches how to plant crops, but also transfers the mindset of efficient, low-cost, and adaptable production. This is key to supporting other countries in building self-reliant and sustainable agriculture."
Since the 1990s, Vietnam has sent thousands of experts to Africa to transfer techniques for rice, corn, vegetable, and aquaculture cultivation. Over the past nearly 30 years, more than 12 African countries have received support, helping to increase crop yields by 2-4 times and contributing to food security. These efforts are not only humanitarian but also affirm the position of Vietnam's agricultural extension services on the international stage, from hands-on technical transfer to building sustainable models.

Angola is one of Vietnam's leading partners in Africa. Following the official visit of President Luong Cuong in August 2025, the relationship between the two countries has developed strongly. During talks with Angolan President João Manuel Goncalves Lourenco, the two sides signed an Action Plan for agricultural cooperation for the period 2025-2026.
Despite being a resource-rich country, Angola's agricultural sector is undergoing reconstruction after years of conflict. Therefore, Angola has requested Vietnam's support for sustainable agricultural development through production organization, technology transfer, capacity building training, and the establishment of raw material areas. Vietnam is committed to sharing its experience and providing maximum support for these proposals through South-South cooperation, with the Vietnam Agricultural Extension system playing a connecting role.
From domestic agricultural extension systems to international outreach, Vietnam is affirming its leading role in global agricultural cooperation. Through South-South cooperation and support for Africa, particularly Angola, Vietnamese agricultural extension not only shares achievements but also contributes to building a more sustainable agricultural sector. In the future, with concrete plans, this expansion will continue to benefit both Vietnam and its partners.
From December 9th to 14th, 2025, a delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Vietnam visited and worked with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Angola. The visit was more decisive, thorough, and substantive than previous occasions. In response, Minister Isaac Maria dos Anjos expressed a strong commitment, creating new momentum for bilateral cooperation. Angola continues to affirm its role as a key partner in expanding Vietnam's South-South cooperation in Africa. Both sides also agreed to strengthen coordination, particularly in the sustainable development of timber and cassava raw material areas.
