Overseas Vietnamese donate more than 600 million VND to support compatriots affected by storm Yagi

On the afternoon of September 13, in Hanoi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairwoman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang, on behalf of the Vietnamese community in Laos, Japan, and the Russian Federation, presented more than VND 600 million to Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien to support people affected by storm No. 3.

The donation shows the sympathy and sharing of overseas Vietnamese towards their compatriots in the country.

At the ceremony, reporting to the Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang said that upon receiving news that storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) had caused damage and greatly affected the lives of people in the country, the Vietnamese community abroad immediately organized donations to send back to the country to support people.

The Deputy Minister shared that these are the first donations from overseas Vietnamese through the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese to be transferred to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to send to people in flood-affected areas and the donation movement is continuing to spread strongly in communities in other countries. Although the amount of money is not much, it shows the sympathy and sharing of overseas Vietnamese towards their compatriots in the country. The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will continue to be a bridge to transfer the sentiments and support of overseas Vietnamese to people in flood-affected areas.

On behalf of the Central Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and people affected by natural disasters, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien thanked and appreciated the sentiments and timely sharing of overseas Vietnamese with the difficulties of their compatriots in the country. This also demonstrates the spirit of "overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part" of the Vietnamese nation. Mr. Do Van Chien also said that the Vietnam Fatherland Front is committed to transferring the donations from overseas Vietnamese to the correct address as desired by the people.

At the meeting, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien also shared about the relief activities for people affected by storm No. 3.

Mr. Do Van Chien said that the Front is coordinating with relevant agencies to transport necessities such as food, drinking water, vegetables, etc. to people in areas affected by natural disasters such as Tuyen Quang, Thai Nguyen, Lao Cai, Yen Bai , etc. At the same time, he expressed his wish to continue receiving the sharing and cooperation of overseas Vietnamese for people in flood-affected areas.
