30th Anniversary of Mai Vang Awards and Mai Vang Awards Ceremony: Promises to be emotional and impressive

Over 100 artists, singers, and dancers will participate in the program, creating truly beautiful artistic moments on the evening of January 8th at the Ho Chi Minh City Theater.

The program celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Mai Vàng Awards and the 30th Mai Vàng Awards Ceremony in 2024 is deeply meaningful, reflecting the 30-year journey of a cultural and artistic award. The program consists of three parts: Gratitude, Connection, and Continuity, under the direction of General Director and journalist Thanh Hiệp, developed from the initial literary script idea by journalist Dương Quang, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Người Lao Động Newspaper.

The highlight of the musical performance is "Golden Apricot Blossoms Reunite to Celebrate Spring".

With a stage design that explores the depth of the City Theater, reflecting the cultural flow imbued with the meaning of the 30-year journey of the Mai Vàng Awards into life, firmly rooted in the emotions and thoughts of the public, readers, and artists when mentioning the traditional Tet holiday of the nation, the decorations, created by Van Toan Fine Arts Design Company, featured two rows of magnificent, blooming apricot blossoms welcoming spring. The visual support from LED screens and Gauze from Thai Du created a colorful space to welcome the Year of the Snake.

The program will open with a dance performance choreographed by Huynh Doan Trinh, featuring 18 dancers from the Bong Sen National Folk Music and Dance Theatre. Against this backdrop of emotional rhythm, the commentary will be delivered by two of the most beautiful voices of the Southern stage: Tu Trinh and Dat Phi.

The traditional Mai Vàng song, composed by musician Vũ Hoàng, has been re-arranged and re-orchestrated, with added rap lyrics wishing a happy new year by Huy Trương. This handsome rapper will perform it alongside singer and actor Châu Nhật Tín, providing strong support for the appearance of three artists who have previously won the Mai Vàng Award: artist Quốc Thảo, designer Võ Việt Chung, and comedian Hồng Trang.

For the first time, the program brought together three dance troupes: Bong Sen, Bau Troi Xanh, and Si Si, along with the participation of 20 actors from the Lac Long Quan Stage. Four choreographers—Huynh Doan Trinh, Huu Phuc, Y Nha, and Le Huynh Bao Kiet—worked diligently to create a vibrant spectacle honoring the artists and singers who have maintained their high standards after winning the Mai Vang Award, and who gathered at the City Theater to proudly sing about being "Mai Vang artists".

The highlight of the program, titled "Mai Vàng Reunion Celebrating Spring," is a musical performance composed by journalist Thanh Hiệp and arranged by Meritorious Artists Võ Thanh Liêm and Minh Tâm. The performance features artists such as People's Artist Lệ Thủy, People's Artist Minh Vương, Meritorious Artist Thoại Mỹ, Meritorious Artist Võ Minh Lâm, Meritorious Artist Tú Sương, and artist Huỳnh Quý. Drawing inspiration from their work behind the scenes, and conveying the message of sharing their skills with the younger generation, the artists participating in the "Mai Vàng Reunion Celebrating Spring" performance will express their gratitude to the public and readers for the 30-year journey of the Mai Vàng Awards.

"The musical performance evoked many emotions in me because it celebrated the positive energy of hundreds of artists honored with the Mai Vàng Award, motivating them to further develop their talents. Besides the Mai Vàng Award, there were many meaningful post-publication activities such as: 'Proud of the National Flag,' 'The National Flag Road,' 'Kindness Around Us,' 'The Doctor in My Heart'… which journalist Thanh Hiệp skillfully incorporated into the musical performance, summarizing the artists' perspective on collaboration to enhance the message directed towards the community," choreographer Hữu Phúc expressed.

The medley "City of Faith and Aspiration" leaves a lasting impression.

As promised to the musicians participating in the songwriting contest "The Nation's Complete Joy," the organizing committee has selected four songs to be strung together into a medley titled "City of Faith and Aspiration," including: "City of Faith and Aspiration" (Nguyen Thien Tue), "Soaring High in the Sky of Freedom" (Mai Tram), "Looking Back at History from Ho Chi Minh City" (Hoang Trung Anh, Huy Truong), and "Brilliant City" (Nguyen Van Chung).

The performing artists included former Mai Vàng Award winners: People's Artist Kim Xuân, People's Artist Phượng Loan, People's Artist Tấn Giao, the Mắt Ngọc singing group, and two rappers, Hoàng Trung Anh and La Trần Đức Thiện. They all expressed their delight and honor in singing about the renewal of Ho Chi Minh City with emotionally charged songs.

"We love the city and sing new compositions written about the city's constructions that have made the city's appearance even more beautiful. This performance contributes to bringing a truly fresh spring breeze to the entertainment life of Ho Chi Minh City residents," People's Artist Kim Xuan shared during rehearsals.

According to General Director Thanh Hiep, the program celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Mai Vang Awards and the 30th Mai Vang Awards Ceremony - 2024 will also feature talented individuals from two programs recognized as two of the top 10 outstanding cultural events nationwide: "Brother Overcoming a Thousand Obstacles" and "Brother Saying Hi".

They will sing songs that spread love in the atmosphere of welcoming the new spring. Choreographers Manh Quyen (MQ Dance Team) and Huu Phuc (Si Si Dance Team) have put their best efforts into ensuring that the two performances by these talented dancers are captivating and will be a youthful, vibrant highlight of the program.

The actors of the Lac Long Quan stage and the Blue Sky and Si Si dance troupes will bring to the program a vibrant and exciting atmosphere, reflecting a shared sense of community responsibility in contributing to the cultural and artistic landscape of Ho Chi Minh City and the entire country through their determination to create many new products for the public. The program will also feature two beloved singers: Thanh Lam and Tung Duong.

Three artists from Hanoi – People's Artist Tran Luc, People's Artist Le Khanh, and People's Artist Tu Long – will appear in the program, enthusiastically celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Mai Vang Awards. People's Artist Tran Luc shared: "I didn't think it would be 30 years already. Since I received the award and was a guest presenter, I've clearly felt the program's culmination when artists gather together on this joyous occasion of the Mai Vang Awards. This year's 30th anniversary is of great significance. Congratulations to the Mai Vang Awards!"

Artists such as Meritorious Artist Hoai Linh, Meritorious Artist Minh Nhi, artist Thanh Hang, MC Quyen Linh, MC Quynh Hoa, actress Le Khanh, and Lam Vy Da will bring a welcoming spring atmosphere to the 30th Mai Vang Awards ceremony with the song "Melody of Spring," accompanied by the Blue Sky and Si Si dance troupes.

A meaningful activity over the years, the "Mai Vàng Tri Ân" (Golden Apricot Blossom Gratitude) program has further strengthened the enduring bond between artists and readers. Over the past five years, more than 800 artists, intellectuals, and scientists with significant achievements and contributions to society have been visited and presented with gifts by the program. This year, the Mai Vàng Awards ceremony will honor singer Tùng Dương as an "Artist for the Community," and simultaneously present the "Mai Vàng Tri Ân" award to two artists: People's Artist and singer Thu Hiền and Meritorious Artist Thành Lộc.

And for all the actors, singers, directors, and art producers in the 15 categories of the voting round, the work of the artists honored "For the Community" has and will create more positive energy for them to enthusiastically fulfill their responsibilities as artists, not only contributing their talent to life but also using their hearts and minds to do good deeds, worthy of being public figures.
