Lai Chau: Successfully organized the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Muong Te district, 2024

According to the report at the Congress, in the period of 2019 - 2024, the implementation of ethnic work and ethnic policies in Muong Te district has been focused on and achieved many positive results. The targets at the 3rd Congress of Ethnic Minorities in the district in 2019 were mostly achieved and exceeded.

Benefiting from all ethnic programs and policies, the lives of ethnic minorities are increasingly improved, the annual poverty rate is decreasing. Specifically, in 2019, the poverty rate was 36.06% (according to the old poverty standard for the period 2016 - 2020); the poverty rate according to the poverty standard for the period 2021 - 2025 decreased from 57.23% (in 2021) to 44.24% (in 2023), the poverty rate reduction reached 12.99%.

Up to now, there are basically no more households suffering from prolonged poverty in the district, and the lives of ethnic people have improved significantly. Average income per capita increased from 23 million VND (in 2019) to 27.6 million VND (in 2023); typical communes leading the way in hunger eradication and poverty reduction associated with new rural construction are: Bum Nua, Muong Te, Ka Lang, Thu Lum, Mu Ca, Can Ho, Nam Khao...

Mr. Tran Huu Chi - Member of the Provincial Party Executive Committee, Head of the Ethnic Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Lai Chau Provincial Congress Steering Committee presented flowers to congratulate the Congress.

In addition, the essential infrastructure system is increasingly invested and improved;education , health care and culture are given attention; social order and safety are ensured; national defense and security are strengthened, consolidated and maintained, so the appearance of highland, border and ethnic minority areas has changed rapidly.

Regarding new rural construction, the whole district has 3/13 communes that have completed the general planning project for new rural construction, 10/13 communes have completed the general planning project for commune construction. Up to now, the communes have basically concreted the internal roads, the village axis is 387.36 km, the main internal road is 70.02 km; up to now, 3 communes have met the new rural criteria (Bum Nua, Muong Te, Thu Lum); 1 commune has met 15-18 criteria; 8 communes have met 10-14 criteria; 1 commune has met 5-9 criteria. The plan for the period 2021 - 2025, strives to recognize 2 new communes meeting new rural standards.

Speaking at the Congress, Mr. Ly Anh Hu - Member of the Lai Chau Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of Muong Te District Party Committee, praised the achievements and results that the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in the district have achieved in the period of 2019 - 2024. The results achieved by the district have made an important contribution to the overall socio -economic development results of the province.

On behalf of the Standing Committee of Muong Te District Party Committee, Mr. Ly Anh Hu believes that, with the achievements and results, the attention, focused leadership and direction of the Party committees, authorities, organizations and the entire political system, promoting the tradition of solidarity, patriotism, self-reliance and self-reliance of the people, the ethnic work of the district in the coming time will continue to achieve many achievements and results, contributing worthily to the implementation of the political tasks of the district, of each locality and building Muong Te district to become a fairly developed district in the northern mountainous district area.

With the theme "The ethnic communities in the district unite, innovate, create, promote advantages, potentials, integrate and develop to build Muong Te homeland to develop rapidly, sustainably and comprehensively in all aspects of economy - society, security - defense", the 4th Congress of Ethnic Minorities of Muong Te district has set out goals, tasks and solutions to effectively implement ethnic policies for the period 2024 - 2029. The Congress has set out 8 specific goals and 8 tasks and solutions for the period 2024 - 2029.

Along with that, the Congress consulted and elected 20 delegates to attend the upcoming Congress of Ethnic Minorities in Lai Chau province.

On this occasion, the Lai Chau Provincial Ethnic Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 individuals; Muong Te District People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 10 collectives and 30 individuals with outstanding achievements in ethnic work and implementation of ethnic policies in the period 2019 - 2024.
